why not look at airfare into another european town, and then take the rail around? Two weeks will give you enough time to really go to some great places. You could do Paris, Cannes, Amsterdam, Monaco, or wherever your heart desires!

You should definitely be able to get to Dublin or Iceland from NYC for less than $800! And you could always take a Ryanair flight from Dublin once you’re there if you really want to get outside of Ireland!

@peachacid:  A California trip would be lovely, I recommend Sonoma over Napa, more small wineries, less tourist-y, but it’s easy to do both. You could do a special fancy dinner at French Laundry, or a less expensive but still awesome one at Bouchon!

If you’re up for driving, it would be worth it to spend some time in San Francisco if you’ve never been, as it’s a great food city.

If you want more natural beauty, I loooove Point Reyes, home of amazing oysters and great cheese! We stayed in a great quaint B&B there: http://www.bearvinn.com/

If you still don’t want to give up on Europe, have you considered flying to Paris or Amsterdam and then taking a train?

Are those prices total, or each? That just seems so high! But yes, Napa would be gorgeous, you could even drive down the coast and visit a few other California towns.

@peachacid:  I just checked on Expedia, and they were definitely under $800, for Dublin or Reykjavik from NYC (Reyjavik is a little cheaper–everyone and their mama wants to go to Ireland in the summer!). Search for a Tuesday to a Tuesday!

@peachacid:  Also, Ireland is really great. I would probably go to Ireland over Belgium for history and DEFINITELY for natural sights. So if you’re not too set on Belgium, staying in Ireland might be a good option! (Not in Dublin though, lol. Dublin gets, like, 4 days.)

@peachacid:  Oh I think I did June 10 to June 17! Just one week, I guess I wasn’t paying enough attention to your post! I’ll check again. 🙂
