Hello you lovely Bees!
Fiance and I are just staying at a hotel for our wedding night as we have a young daughter and about 75% of our guests are coming in from out of town and we haven’t seen most of them in over a year. We would rather have time with them then be off doing our own thing.
We plan to take our “real” honeymoon late spring or early summer next year. I am trying to keep the whole thing under $3,500 – $3,000 if possible. It is most important to me that we have a nice time and get to relax and really enjoy ourselves; if we have to up our budget then so be it, but I’m one of those girls who loves a good deal.
We only want to be away for about 5 days; as I said we have a young daughter and as it is will be heavily relying on family just to get away for that long. I’m hoping as we don’t want to be gone for too long this will help us find something nice within our budget. At the moment we are planning on doing a Carnival cruise to somewhere in the Carribean, but we aren’t 100% set on it.
I just thought I’d throw our budget out there and see if anyone had any ideas as to where we should go? We live in New England if that helps at all and we definitely want to go somewhere warm. We have considered Hawaii (which can get uber expensive), the Carribean, St. Lucia and the Florida Keys. I figured all-inclusive is going to be the way to go…
So, if you had our budget and wanted to go have a really great relaxing honeymoon where would you go?!

If you are thinking about the beach check out Captiva Island, Florida. It is amazing. One of the most beautiful beaches in the world. South Seas is the resort that is really nice.
We honeymooned at Big Cedar Lodge in Missouri. Not on the beach but still very romantic.

Bermuda would be an inexpensive trip since you’re in the northeast. I’ve never been, but I’ve heard great things about it. One of my stepsisters went on a cruise to Bermuda for a week and loved it!
Hawaii is gorgeous, but SO expensive. The Florida Keys would be nice, but I would probably go with the cruise idea

I bet you could do Jamaica or the Bahamas for that amount. You’d have to hunt for cheap flights, but I think it would be doable! I would prefer that to a cruise, but that’s just me!

I don’t have a set budget but I am a young bride-to-be who only makes $9.50 an hour so I was definitely limited since I’m paying for the majority of the wedding as well. We decided on Disneyland/Florida. It will be during holloween AND my birthday so it’s pretty much three trips combined into one. We’re from California and have never been to Florida in general so we’re excited!

You can definitely do Jamaica for that amount. Couples resorts is adults only (couples only) and are pretty awesome price wise (and their rates are listed per couple NOT per person). I’ve only been to Couples Tower Isle (twice) though, so I can’t give any first hand info regarding their other resorts.

@BrieBrieGorGor: I’ve been to 44 of the 50 states and I will tell you right now that the florida keys are my favorite place in the country, second favorite place in the world (paris IS paris after all). kayak’s “all-inclusive” deals section is a great place to start:
i think you’d be surprised at how luxurious of a vacation 3K can get you. have fun planning!

@rawrrrrr: Thank you! I will check that out! My fiance’s father was in the military and having 4 kids they did a lot of US trips and they went to the Florida Keys a lot to fish and such. I have been to Florida a few times, but never the Keys!
Thanks for all the other suggestions ladies! I’ll be looking into all of them! :]

@ThinkingOutLoud: How funny I am from CA too and I thought about doing Disneyworld! Someone posted recently about doing a 4 day Disney cruise and two days in Orlando. My fiance and I are big kids who love to have fun so that thought crossed my mind last week. I think I’d feel really guilty going to Disneyworld without our little one though :[
I’ll definitely price that one out too :] I hope you have a great honeymoon!! Sounds like fun!

- Wedding: November 2013 - St. Augustine Beach, FL
@BrieBrieGorGor: For five days I would fly directly to the city where I was staying and check in and enjoy the 5 days. A 5 day cruise doesn’t give you much in the way of ports and ships are way nicer on the 7 day cruises.
I second rawrrrrr that the Florida Keys are beautiful and the weather is perfect during the spring. You can fly right into Key West or Miami and then rent a car so you can drive through the different keys. $3K over 5 days is plenty of money. I don’t believe there are any all inclusives but you could get a deal on a nice B&B in Key West and enjoy “island time.”

We are also doing a small vacation this year and our “real” honeymoon for our 1st anniversary. We are doing Belize. We found places were you can stay all inclusive for 7days for around $2500

You can do Mexico or Punta Cana easily in your budget – and stay at a relatively nice place. We went to an all-inclusive in Mexico that was super nice (had a huge suite with our own private rooftop pool) and the room for 8 days was a little under $3k ( including all inclusive) and the flights were $1000 from the east coast.
