I never have, but maybe there is another island paradise you could visit in August....Hawaii, maybe, or somewhere in the South Pacific?
I went to Los Cabos, Mexico last year in August.... it was gorgoues. The weather is fabulous. That was where my fiance proposed to me. Cabo is a great honeymoon spot!
We're going to Mexico for our honey, we thought about a Carribean island, but didn't want to take the risk. We also bought travel insurance so that it's covered if a storm does end up hitting (crossing fingers).
It's definitely hurricane season so if you want to risk it, make sure to buy insurance! Hawaii or South Pacific (of course much further and probably expensive) are definite other options. Was your FI totally set on the Carribeans? I'd just do some research on a bunch of places, and if you decide you really want to go to a Carribean island, get the travel insurance like I said and enjoy!
My FI And I were set on going somewhere off the Carribean as well. The more we thought about it we didn't want to risk having a hurricane, lots of rain or storming... even if we were to purchase travel insurance. Although our honeymoon begins in the end of August, and goes through September the same precautions apply. We spoke to friends and family and a travel agent and were given some great options. We finally decided on Aruba. Some other great options outside of the hurricane belt but are still in the Carribean are Trinidad and Tobago, Bonaire, Curacao, Providencia Island, San Andreas, Panama and the isalnds off of Venzuela. They all have beautiful hotels and resorts.

I'm getting married August 7, 2010. My fiance and I want to go to a tropical island (caribbeans) however, I've heard it's not safe to go to any of these islands due to hurricane season. Has anyone been to any of the islands in August? How is the weather? Is it really that bad? We have our hearts set on Couples resort or Sandals.
