We’re trying to nail down our honeymoon location and neither of us has been to central America so this came up as a potential location. Has anyone ever been? Can you recommend it? Our tentative honeymoon date is post-spring break so probably April 2014.
Thanks in advance!

Hi, fellow Front Ranger!
Our friends had their honeymoon in Belize and they seemed like they had fun. I hear there are good snorkeling opportunities.
I was in Panama several years ago and can see the appeal for a honeymoon in this region!

@Penelopeee: We went on a cruise that stopped in Belize City. We went cave tubing and it was the best excursion of our vacation! The company we went through was really awesome, too. As was their rum punch.

I was there this summer as a weekend trip with SO while I worked in Guatemala. We went to South Water Caye. Pros: gorgeous and secluded, great snorkeling. Cons: expensive!
In Belize City on our last day we toured Mayan ruins and went to a howler monkey sanctuary. We would both love to go back someday

It’s definitely pricey compared to a lot of Central America, but super cool! I stayed on Ambergris and Caulker Cayes for a while. There is amazing snorkeling (and even better diving, but I don’t dive – YET). The cave tubing on the mainland is pretty awesome too, and if you’re into rainforests / birding / etc, there are some really nice eco-resorts further into the mainland.
