We are looking for somewhere warm and beachy for our honeymoon in November of this year and want to go somewhere where we are going to feel very safe and comfortable and have a lot of things to do. We don’t want to be stuck at the resort the entire time. We have sort of narrowed it down to either Grand Caymen or Captiva Island in Florida. Any opinions?? Also resort or condo/home rental??

Cannot comment on Grand Caymen as I have never been – BUT I do live 15 minutes down the road from Captiva Island in FL!!!
It is a beautiful place and the beaches are very very nice (espcially if you appreciate that sunset walk at night – great for a honeymoon!! 🙂
Captiva really does not have many hotels on the Island – about 2 I believe but most people staying out there book holiday home rentals and they really are AMAZING homes out there! For things to do out there – ther are some boutique style shopping – of course the water activities and boat trips and the beach. You have Naples just a short drive away which is also beautiful and has plenty to keep you occupied. If you want to know anything specific that I can find out for you – would be happy to help out 🙂
http://www.royalshell.com/ This is one of the vacation rental companies othat is located on the Island for home vacation rentals.

Thank you for the input! It is a tough decision to make and we need to make it very soon!

I’ve been to Captiva many times at a resort where a friend has a time share. Honestly I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s kind of boring. But…if you just want to lounge for the most part it’d be great.

By the way if you do want to go there I have a ton of info I can pass along I just have to ask my friend for the exact names of places.

I’ve never been to Captiva, but I’ve been to Grand Cayman twice, and I LOVED it! Seven-mile beach is one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen. And the snorkling is AMAZING! (Plus you can swim with stingrays! 🙂
