blankenshiptobe:  Cheeseburger Key West is an awesome restaurant, definitely have to do Sunset Festival at least one night!

We were feeling adventurous so signed up for a Fury Key West adventure (parasailing, snorkeling, etc.) and it wasn’t worht it, maybe one of those things, but not an entire days worth.

Hemingway House is awesome if you like history or cats.

Go to Southernmost point just so you can say you were there 🙂

Kayak at least once, it’s awesome!

We didn’t do it but I heard the Key West Bar Crawl is awesome!

blankenshiptobe:  Omg, I’m soooo jealous! I have to say, I lived in SE FL for 5 years and hated every moment of it EXCEPT the weekend we went to the Keys!! It’s soooo pretty!! We honestly didn’t do much in such a short time so I’m really no help except yes, Hemingway house was really cool (I like history and polydactyl cats are neat!). And you might need to go to Margaritaville just so you can say you had a …. margarita! Lol! Looooove the Keys! Have fun!!

There are a few really great places in Key Largo/Tavernier (the key right below Key Largo):

I love Mrs. Mac’s! It looks really divey but the food is really good!

Mr. C’s ice cream – he makes really good cheesecake ice cream that you can top with gram crackers

Snappers – good food and you can feed the tarpon out by the docks, it’s actually pretty fun!

Craig’s – really good dolphin sandwhiches

Also check out The Fish House and The Carribean Club is a classic

We did that for our honeymoon in 2010 and had the BEST time!

We rented kayaks and went kayaking in the ocean.

You need to go the the Made 2 Order Cafe  in Tavernier for breakfast- YUMMMM

And it is touristy but it is fun to go to Hemmingway’s house in Key West and see the polydactal cats!

And I always go to The Hogs Breath Saloon in Key West- because “Hog’s breath is better than no breath at all”!

Here are a few things I would recommend:

  • snorkel at Pennycamp Park, which is a public park that has a snorkeling “trail” you can follow
  • rent a small pontoon boat and tool around (if you are a boat person) — the water is gorgeous and it’s really fun
  • Go to Lorelei’s around Mile Marker 88 one night for dinner and watch the fantastic sunset from there — sometimes they have outdoor barbecues with bands that are really fun
  • If you like fancy brunch, the Cheeca Lodge has an outstanding Sunday Brunch overlooking the water.
  • I agree, definitely drive down to Key West for a day and have fun exploring the crazy bars and shops.
  • Find a spot with reasonably priced stone crab claws (forget reasonably priced …. make that not OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive) and chow down!
  • Go to Bobz Big Bunz for a great homey breakfast

My husband and I love going to the Keys, and we usually stay up around Key Largo or Islamorada.  We always have a great time and I’m sure you will too!

blankenshiptobe:  If you get the chance to drive down to Marathon while you’re there definitely have lunch at Burdine’s Waterfront Marina tiki bar.  Their fish sandwiches are delicious.  http://www.burdineswaterfront.com/

As for the best key lime pie.  While I love Kermit’s, the key lime pie at Publix is cheaper and consistently awesome.  But if you go for Kermit’s make sure to get the chocolate dipped pie!
