Have you both sat down and made a list of the mood and setting you would like? Also- what activities do you have your heart set on doing? Then you're budget.
Then compare the lists, factor in your budget, nd you'll hsve a starting point. (ex: we have $3,000 and want to go someplace tropical to dive with dolphins............. just an example)
After that start looking at vacation deals on-line to get some ideas. It's not cheating to visit a travel agent either, even if you may not book with her/him. They may have some other options you may not have thought about............. plus they know when is the season to go where at what rate. Just pick their brain a bit.

We went to Central America for our honeymoon this past September (Costa Rica and Belize). We did the west coast of Costa Rica (not a target for atlantic hurricanes). We talked to some locals in Belize and they said they rarely get hurricanes because they are sheilded by all the carribean islands.
It was the "green" (rainy) season in both of these places for us so the prices were better. In the 11 days that we spent there, it only rained once, for a few hours one evening while we were in Costa Rica. We sat our on our covered balcony and listened to the howler monkeys who apparently don't like rain!
we are having the same problem! our wedding is 9/18/10... and we will probably be leaving that following sunday/monday... we originally wanted to go to st. lucia or turks/caicos... but it IS hurricane time... any married bees that have travelled around this time have any other destinations?
missjyc we are date twins and we are leaving for our honeymoon the same day! I was checking out Turks and Caicos and Cabo so far.. who knows maybe we will end up at the same place :) Good luck with all your planning and fill me in when you decide where you are going and ill do the same

My brother got married this past September, on the 26th, and they went to the Riviera Maya and loved it!! My fiance and I are getting married Sept 5 and are considering Mexico too.. you can get a beach front room, all inclusive, butler, spa treatments all for 3000-5000. Anddd supposedly they are further away from the hurricane belt. Good luck!
I heard somewhere that Italy is awesome in September. We just got back a few days ago, and the weather was great!

FI has his heart set on Turks&Caicos so we were thinking about delaying the honeymoon until December, to avoid hurricane season...but if the rest of you ladies are willing to risk it I may change our plans. I'm curious to see who actually books it.
I keep researching Turks & Caicos and Cabo San Lucas... Seems like hurricanes hit less on the pacific side. Friends of ours went on their honeymoon in Turks & Caicos this past October and LOVED it. Went to Le Vele Resort and couldnt have raved more. Anyone finidning any good resorts for either T & C or Cabo?
My friends got married in late Sept. and honeymooned in the Dominican Republic. They went to an all-inclusive and had great weather!
so we're thinking aruba, turks and caicos... or if we splurge we might go with FIJI or TAHITI!

I'm late to the party but that's our date too and we're leaving on the 20th as well! We just booked our trip to St. Lucia. We were aiming for Aruba due to the hurrican issue but sicne they are out of the hurrican belt prices in September were quite high so we did St. Lucia and for $130 per person bought insurance to completely cover our trip in case we change our mind or a hurrican hits. We used the travel agent at AAA so we could get the insurance and are hoping for a hurricane free trip but even if a hurricane hits we'll get a full refund minus the $260 we paid for insurance. The way I look at it is we take a small (insured) risk and go to a nicer hotel than if we went somewhere outside of the hurricane belt. If anyone else is going to St. Lucia on these dates, PM me.
We keep going back and forth between Hawaii (Maui) or Belize. I think Belize is winning at present, but that could change tomorrow! LOL.
Has anyone booked the Honeymoon for their September wedding that we were talking about? I think Im falling behind because we are still debating! Now we are between Aruba and Cabo.

Create the honeymoon of your dreams.
My fiance and I are looking into booking our honeymoon. Our wedding is September 18th and we will be leaving on the 20th. We live in NY and would like to leave the country for a week or so. I know its getting into hurricane season around that time so I was wondering if anyone had suggestions? Any destinations that were great or hotels that were out of this world?
