I am getting married October 1st and I know I want to go somewhere beachy and tropical for the honeymoon. We were thinking of the Dominican Republic but, October is their highest rainfall month….
I have been to Hawaii before so I would like to go elsewhere.
Any suggestions? Where are you guys going?

That’s peak hurricane season….so beachy isn’t going to be your safest bet unless you are willing to go to Hawaii. If you won’t go there, i’d suggest postponing until December or so.

We went on our honeymoon the first week in November to the Bahamas and barely squeaked by without being majorly affected by hurricane tomas. We did have some bad weather, but alot of the people we talked to there had been re-routed to our resort because all the other Caribbean islands were getting hammered. If you do choose to do a beach honeymoon in October, definitely get insurance so if you have to cancel, you can go again.

We are getting married Oct 15th..we will also have the problem with Hurrican season. So we are going to Hawaii! Everywhere else you have a huge chance of getting hit by the storms. You could also do Aruba bc they don’t get hit!!

If you’re concered about hurricane season here are some islands outside of the hurricane belt:
- Margarita Island (part of Venezuela)
- Trinidad and Tobago
My fiance and I discussed Costa Rica as a beachy option, but we soon learned it is the rainy season there. Good luck!

We are headed to Aruba! I’ve done a ton of research and it looks like their rainy season is November and December…But I guess this past year they’ve had more rain than usual. I think everywhere is seeing weird weather this season!
Also- we are going to stay at the Radisson, and they are having a sale on rooms if you book before January 31!

October 7th here! We’re cruising to Bermuda for our Honeymoon. While Bermuda is technically part of the Caribbean, it doesn’t get anywhere near as many tropical storms or hurricanes as the other islands do. Its less than 600 miles off the coast of North Carolina so the island tends to get as much rain during hurricane season as the east coast does. I’ve spoken to a number of locals on the island (we were originally planning on having a Destination Wedding there) and they all said that we shouldn’t have anything to worry about.

We are doing Curacao… And SOOO excited!

@UpstateCait: are you going on Royal Caribbean or Carnival or another line? I was just curious. I have been on a couple of cruises through Carnival and have always liked them and I think Fiance is okay with going on one, but doesn’t seem to want to do Carnival because people he talked with said it was a party cruise. I went in October on a carnival ship and there were a lot of old people and a transgender/cross dressing group. not much partying.

We are getting married on October 21 and then going on a short mini-moon, probably somewhere around Chicago.
But then, in March, we’re planning on going to Ireland for our official honeymoon!!! I studied abroad there for a semester my freshman year in college and can’t wait to go back.
It’s one of the cheapest times to go, the weather is decent, and my birthday is actually St. Patrick’s Day, so there will be tons going on. Birthday plus Honeymoon plus uber romatic little pubs? I think I’m just as excited for the honeymoon as I am about the wedding! 🙂

I think we have decided on a cruise. We are looking at a 7 day Eastern Caribbean cruise leaving from Miami with stops in the Bahamas, San Juan, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas and Grand Turk. I realize that there could be storms, but we will get the travel insurance and should be okay. I went on a cruise in October before and it was a lot of fun. I think to get away and enjoy a trip with my sweetie will be a lot of fun and am looking forward to it.

We are going on a 9 day Eastern Carribean Cruise starting October 20…I realize that there may be storms…but Fiance and I are pros at changing plans last minute due to storms, we’ve already planned two vacations in a hotel room in under an hour and had a blast because the original plans got bashed because of unsuspecting weather…so even if the cruise gets cancelled or redirected…OH WELL =) We bought the insurance, we will just go somewhere else!

We have been talking about going to Jamaica that last week of October and praying that we won’t be too affected by the hurricane season as it’s technically the last week of the season. However, I’m a little nervous. We definitely want something beachy and an all inclusive. We don’t want to go somewhere either of us has already been so that rules out Mexico and Hawaii.
