They are both beautiful! It depends on when you go because the south of France is nice all year round but Paris can get chilly in the winter. We went to Nice (south of France) and it was gorgeous!
both are wonderful.. if both of you have been to neither.. i say go to paris... it is so unique.. and you can take a day trip to versailles.. you can even go to london for a night!
Nice is nice too, as is cannes.. you can visit monaco if you go down there too and that place is just soo luxurious...
Oh Monaco is so fun! But we went before we were 18 so we weren't allowed in any of the casinos!
they wouldnt let me in to the casinos because i had my large slr camera! my ex and i went to the zoo though! ha... and we walked past all the yachts which are just amazing.
How much time do you have? Is there a reason you can only do one, not both? If you had the time (1-2 weeks) I'd say fly to Paris, spend up to a week there (with some day trips e.g. Versailles) then get the train/fly down to Avignon, then rent a car and drive south. That way you can do Provence, the Alps and the Mediterranean. Fly from Nice back to Paris for home. Sounds like a fabulous holiday to me!!! If you don't have time for both I'd say it depends on if you are more city or country people, I think you could have a wonderful honeymoon in either place it just depends what you want to do with your time (e.g. museums, galleries, shopping, eating versus countryside, views, beach, eating).
I could have spent weeks in Nice! I loved it! Paris has so much to do and so many different options, but Nice has that name for a reason. Nice is my favorite place to date for anyone to travel!
I've been to Paris and it's gorgeous but for my tastes it would be too busy for a honeymoon. I would vote for the south of France. Gorgeous beaches and great food, and culture still too. Do Paris when you want to be a tourist more. It doesn't seem like a honeymoon spot to me.
Totally the south of France. I went to Cassis, Marseilles, Nice and Monaco and they were all GORGEOUS. Well worth the trip. I, honestly, didn't like Paris that much. It was a complete let-down. Versailles is incredible, we happened to be there on a rare day when the fountains were on. The Red Light District/Montmatre were pretty neat as well.
Nice is AMAZING. Good food, beautiful beaches and scenery, good food, awesome atmosphere. I could go live there and be happy for the rest of my life. Best place I've ever been.
Want both! Good luck deciding, it'd be hard for us. Paris and the south of France is going to likely be our 2nd anniversary trip (an Alaska cruise will be #1). So maybe I'm a compulsive travel planner, this is a bad thing?
Oh I love Montmarte! My cousin and I sat for portraits there and I have mine framed now!
I guess it really depends on what you want to do on your honeymoon. My husband and I like to do things so either one would be great but if you just want to lay around and eat and spend time together, maybe you don't want to go to Paris this time.
Yeah... go to the South! I suggest Saint Jean Cap Ferrat. Also I really suggest a day in Grasse (the city where they make all the perfume essence) and Saint Paul de Vence, one of the last walled cities in France! I grew up half my life in Paris and it is so anti-climatic... in my opinion.
You could always go to the south then take the TGV (high speed train) to Paris. Then spend a few days in Paris. You could honestly do Paris in 3 days, it at least the big things. PM me if you would like more info on things to do in Paris.
I spent almost two weeks in Provence and it is soooo beautiful. If you have the time though, go ahead and spend a few days in Paris as well, you'll already be there so you've got to see it!
we're planning on staying in Paris for a week :) we only have one week for our honeymoon, and will be spending the few weeks before the wedding in a resorty beach area, so we wanted something urban. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong visiting any of the places suggested!
I haven't been to Paris yet but I can tell you that the south of France is very beautiful. We stayed at a 4 star camp site the south of Lyon on the river for 2 weeks and just did day trips out of there. If you rent a car you can easily get to chateus and other attractions. Plus there's great places to laze the day away and picnic.
Just be aware if you go away from the obviously touristy areas to have cash on you. DO NOT expect brasseries, bars, boutiques, and the smaller attractions to have a credit card option and you can literally drive a good 30 miles before you find a village big enough to have an ATM (I speak from experience).

We've talked about a honeymoon in France and I'm wondering if you'd reccommend Paris or the South of france? I've never been to either so any recommendations?
