The most expensive part will probably be your airplane ticket. I was there as a teenagner on vacation. It was awesome and I'll probably be back there for part of our honeymoon. Thailand, in general, is tourist-friendly. Just be careful about personal belongings and follow the tour guide and reviews in case of scams (like all other travel destinations).

It's a great destination! The prices on the islands are very affordable!! And the pictures you get from your vacation can warm you up anytime))) I totally love Thailand))

i've been 4 times to Phuket and 3 to the Phi Phi's. it's magic! and so cheap! we get amazing deals from Australia because it's so close. as you get on the dreaded flight booking engines, consider perhaps flying to Aus first, and then buying a package deal of flights and accommodation from wherever you land in Australia. it may just be cheaper. (and it is cheapest flying to Asia from Perth.) i highly recommend bestflights.com.au for inexpensive packages to Asia.
