If you guys really want to go to the Caribbean for your honeymoon, you can always look into the ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao) which are far enough south that they are not likely to be hit by hurricanes, and are INCREDIBLY beautiful (well, Aruba and Bonaire are, I have never been to Curacao). I think taking the honeymoon after the wedding is important because it gives you guys a chance to reflect on the day, and spend quality time together, away from everyone else, and enjoy your newly wed status :)
I just did a poll about honeymoons - it seems like most people are putting their honeymoons off until a later date - i.e. durring better travel weather! If you really have your heart set on a specific place, and your wedding date falls at a bad time, don't feel bad about putting it off for awhile. A gal mentioned on my poll that after the wedding your exhausted and overwhelmed and usually have things to take back to vendors, things to clean up, and people to visit with before they travel back home. Get a hotel room or something for the night of, and then plan your big trip when your bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and ready for another adventure! Good luck!
We went on our honeymoon this past september (didnt delay) and we went to Zihuatanejo, Mexico. It is on the pacific coast, so it was out of hurricane range. you an also look into St Lucia, which should be far enough out of the hurricane belt as well
We got married in September and went to Vegas. The weather was hot the first day, and then was in the high '70's for the rest of our trip.
I like the idea of 2 honeymoons..one low-key local getaway for cheap and then waiting, and anticipating, preparing for and getting very excited for a later getaway. Thanks for the feedback!

Any suggestions on where to honeymoon in early September? My fiance and I would love to go to the Carribean, but it is hurricane season so we are toying with the idea of a week getaway to the Cape (where we are getting married) and then postponing until the winter. Has anyone put off their honeymoon and gone at a later date? Did it lose any of its luster having to wait? And any tips on where to travel in September? Thanks!!
