girl, you have not been to the tripadvisor forums yet have you???? if this thread will let us post links, it’s: http://www.tripadvisor.com/ForumHome

i would bookmark it!

i spent hour after hour reading these boards, and planned our honeymoon entirely based on suggestions found here. youll see while reading that a lot of other people have done the same. it’s amazing!

we decided on a combo of moorea, bora bora, and tikehau (all in french polynesia). before tripadvisor forums, i had only heard of bora bora.

what i would do is go to the cook island board and ask this same question. then post the same question on the french polynesia board, and same with fiji. youll get a lot of helpful answers from destination experts.

from what i gather, bora bora is completely run by tourism but the lagoon is unimaginably beautiful. people have said that tonga near fiji is unspoiled by tourism yet.

good luck and let me know what you decide!

I have been to Fiji, Tonga, Cook Islands, Vanuatu, Bora Bora and Samoa.

I definately agree with @dvillecreek: . Trip advisor is your friend. There are pros and cons to each place so do some research and feel free to ask any questions.

You must to to Toberua Island in Fiji.  You can find it on Trip Advisor and It’s a complete hidden gem.  Very reasonably priced and it’s where FI popped the question!

I’m dying to go back to Toberua…we’ll definitely be going back for our Honeymoon.

I’ve only been to Fiji. When I go on my honeymoon (in less than two weeks!) it’ll be for the third time. Beautiful weather, beautiful beaches, beautiful people. The food is pretty meh, but some resorts have great restaurants. If going to Fiji, head to the Mamanuca group or the Wasawas.

Fuuuun!

@dsanchez: we are also considering our honeymoon in the same region and actually the same time- next september. i haven’t been to any of these places i have done research. although id love to go to tahiti/bora bora it is very expensive compared to fiji and the cook islands. what ive read is that the cook islands esp Aitutaki is what bora bora was 50 years ago. we are leaning more toward the cook islands because its cheaper and of course its beautiful.

@slrigeromlig:  I planned a trip there but it ended up falling through (it’s so expensive!) I will definitely be getting there when we have time/money though. I don’t think there is much to do there, it’s more of a deserted island type place, you can find very unexplored beaches together, go for a lagoon tour.  It all looked very much like an uncommercial untouched paradise. One day…

Fiji is amazing. We went to our friends wedding at Musket Cove Resort on Malolo Lai Lai and it was breathtaking. I did not want to leave.
