We are honeymooning in Las Vegas the first week of December.  Does anyone have must-see, must-eat, must-do suggestions?  We aren't big gamblers and it will be to chilly for pool days...

Well T my guy would tell you to climb to the top of the Stratosphere hotel and do the rides that hang you over the side.  He did one and it just (I saw pics) freaked me out!  but it could be cool to do that!

Some of my friends went to Vegas and stayed at the Wynn.  They said it was gorgeous.  I have another friend who decided to get away during the night and some afternoons from the glitz and stayed at the Lake Las Vegas resort (I think it's a Ritz) and they absolutely adored that!  They enjoyed having the glitz and shows and great food at night (although they ate in too) and then came back to their haven of beauty, quiet, and peace at their resort far from the lights.

I would definitely go to some shows. Anything by Cirque du Soleil should be good (saw O and it was incredible, have heard good things about Beatles Love, and Zumanity was...ummm...inspiringWink). Walk the strip, see the water show at the Bellagio and go on a gondola ride in the Venetian, and don't forget about the wax museum. The Fremont Street Experience is a must.

For food...TAO @ Venetian was awesome, The Foundation Room @ Bellagio INCREDIBLE for its views and ambiance.

Where are you staying for your honeymoon? On the strip or off?

I was just there last week for a work conference!  I stayed at the Palazzo, which was nice, but I think Planet Hollywood would be better.  Apparently they just did a 4 billion dollar remodel and they film 2 movies a month on the complex (i.e. lots of possible movie star sightings).

There are a ton of free/cheap things to see on the strip if you don't like to gamble: the water show and Conservancy at Bellagio, the Siren show at Treasure Island, the "volcano" at the Mirage, New York New York rollercoaster, the Stratosphere, etc...  Also, Vegas is known for the shows: O, The Phantom of the Opera, Bette Midler, Criss Angel, The Lion King, medieval meals at the Excalibur, the list just keeps going!  Have fun; you're going to have a blast!

I love THE Hotel at Mandaly Bay - 1st because it's separate from the casino so you don't have to walk thru the casino to get to your room. The rooms are fabulous! THey have the lazy river and wave machine by the Mandalay pool. Even if you don't stay there, go and have a drink on the terrace at Mixx at the top of the hotel. THey have couch seats that face the strip and the view is incredible. THey have heaters out there so you can go out year round.

For food, I love Sushi Roku at Ceasar's Shops and they have a fabulous view of the strip. They have a Commander's Palace in Vegas modeled after the one in New Orleans and it was great.

We saw Zumanity and LOVED it. But it's very wild and risque, so not for everyone. I liked it because it had a little of everything: comedy, acrobatics, dance, beautiful bods, etc.

I stayed at the Mandalay Bay. It was really nice. The restaurants there are pretty pricey but if you want fast food style, just walk next door to the Luxor and there's food like Quiznos and McDonalds up there. The beach looked great but it was so crowded that it was like every inch was covered with people. It was kind of disappointing from that aspect.

Our Cirque De Soleil show was cancelled at the last minute and since everything was booked up, all we could see was Carrot Top's comedy show at the Luxor. Well, it was hilarious! I laughed at just about all his jokes and there were some famous people in the audience too which was very cool. I've heard good things about the Zumanity show as well.

The Sirens/Pirates show at Treasure Island is free and really fun to watch. There's 3 different shows that start up in the evening.

We found the table dealers at our hotel (Mandalay) to be somewhat snooty and the buy-ins at the tables are larger compared to other hotels (Luxor, Excalibur, Treasure Island) and at the Old Strip (Fremont St). THe dealers at the other places were just more helpful and friendly by far. The Old Strip on Fremont St was a lot of fun! Drinks there were cheaper (compare 1 jager bomb at our hotel for $10 to about $5 here!), the slots seemed looser, and people here were very friendly. There are light shows and live music too at night. A one-way taxi ride from the new strip to the old strip was $30 so make sure you have people to split the ride with or just go once or twice! Lots of food and shops at Fremont as well.

The lions at the MGM Grand are fun to see as well as the volcano show at the Mirage (both free). The Bellagio has some really beautiful glass pieces in it and a really cute little garden which is fun to stroll through with your significant other. Caesar's Palace also has 2 different talking statue shows (1 was much more show-worthy compared to the other)--both free to the public.

The roller coaster is pretty crazy at New York New York but its about $16 per person. They take pictures of each row and you can buy your photo at the end but its big bucks and they let you email it to yourself once purchased--but conveniently when we got home, there was no email.

If you want to walk from one hotel to the one next door out on the street, give yourself a good 20 minutes. It looks close but man those hotels are huge so it takes forever to get from one place to another by foot! But it is a good workout and will cut down on taxi rides.

    Have fun!

We are staying at the Belaggio in a penthouse suite, so we're definitely going luxury Vegas!  Has anyone been to any of the spas?

I lived in Vegas for three years! I've been to several of the spas, on-Strip and off. The very best, hands down, is Qua at Caesar's Palace. If you go there, I would get there seriously 2 or 2.5 hours early to use all the facilities. I've also heard the new spa at Encore is amazing. Another great spa is the one at Red Rock Casino, out in Summerlin (my old neighborhood)! Red Rock is a great casino in general, and really close to Red Rock Park, which is really fun for sightseeing, walking, and hiking.

My favorite shows were LOVE and the Crazy Horse burlesque show at the MGM Grand.

I've been to Vegas a few times and I have a couple suggestions if you are trying to do a higher-end vacation -

     - stay away from Freemont Street (yuck!) I don't know what people see in that place.  It is supposed to be like "old school" Vegas but it is gross (in my opinion).

-Go to LOVE! Go go go, you won't regret it.  I've see other Cirque shows and also Le Reve at the Wynn and Love at the Mirage was A-MAZING - so good and I wouldn't consider myself a Beatles fan really.  Also tip on that- buy tickets at the Tix 4 Tonight booths instead of ordering them ahead and DON'T let them upsell you.  They are much cheaper and they tried to convince us to buy a higher priced ticket to Love but we ended up in that higher priced section for free b/c it was a weekday and the show wasn't even close to capacity.

    - GREAT choice of hotel, try to get a fountain view the Bellagio fountains are seriously one of my favorite attractions in Vegas and watching it from your room is cool because you don't have to go outside to hear the music!  Also, Bank, the nightclub in Bellagio is pretty good, some people would say its passe but hey, if you're visiting and not looking for singles it is fun!  Plus last time I was there Thursday was Ladies night and we drank whatever we wanted FREE all night!  Have a cocktail (or three) and rock out with your new hubby!

-Food wise there are some SUPER nice restaurants (famous chefs, etc.) you can try but I would def hit up Paris for their champagne brunch on Sunday (if you're going to be in town) and if you want to go to a buffet because, hey, its Vegas, I would recommend the Wynn or Planet Hollywood (a little cheaper @PH but still awesome variety!)

    Have fun, you'll love it!

Oh, PS even though you aren't a big gambler (I'm not either) you will still be tempted (trust me!) Make sure to give youself a limit before you go and maybe keep the cash in a different envelope, even if it is just $20 or $40!

I live right outside of Vegas, I'm not a gambler and it will definitely be too cold. Dining on the strip there are always good restaurants in every casino. My favorite, spanish tapas and yummy sangria- Cafe Ba Ba Reeba at the Fashion Show Mall across from the Wynn. Buffet dinner- Wynn Hotel, so delicious. Fancy dinner- Eiffel Tower restaurant or Mortons like two blocks off the strip. If you want to go off the strip you can take the travel tour over to Red Rock Canyon, its very very nice. If you want to do some partying/clubbing there is XS at Encore, or Tryst at the Wynn, Prive at Planet Hollywood, Tao at the Venetian. Spa relaxation goodness the best spa on the strip is the Caesars Palace one, its really great. Hope this helps, if you have any questions please feel free to ask any questions from the local.

I agree with what a lot of the girls already said. I go to vegas alot and bellagio is definitly the best hotel. You absolutely have to see "O" if you have not seen it before, its amazing. The wynn buffet is by far the best buffett in my opinion. I also really love the restaurant sensi in the bellagio. The spa at the bellagio is also really nice.

One of the best things about staying in the bellagio penthouse is all the perks. There is a VIP lounge where you have free access to drinks and fresh snacks. Also when the taxi line gets long they will take you to the front of the line.

We went last month, and did one of the helicopter tours of the Grand Canyon, with a landing and champagne lunch-- was very fun!  Might want to check that out.

You have to check out any Cirque du Soleil show. We aren't big gamblers either and I didn't think Id enjoy the shows but we went to see "O" by Cirque de Soleil and it was AMAZING!! Also, the shopping is amazing!

I second, third or fourth anyone who suggested a Cirque show.  Love them!

My fave free thing is watching the fountains @ the Bellagio. =)

I've been to Vegas a couple of times so I'll try to add on:

-Go to the Secret Garden zoo at the Mirage.  A little pricey, but seeing the white tiger cubs and dolphins was worth it.

-Go to the courtyard thing outside Harrah's at night to see the bartenders doing tricks (like the people on the Food Network competitions)

-The shopping is great at the Forum Shops in Caesar's and the Miracle Mile at Planet Hollywood.  There's also an outlet mall I think across the street from Treasure Island.

-Check out the moving garden thing in the lobby of the Bellagio (if its still there)

-I also don't see the appeal of Fremont Street.  It's all run down and gross.  I think you can take the bus (Deuce) there to save on cab fare.

If you want an easy day trip to get away from the Strip and something super fun go to Bonnie Springs in Red Rock Canyon and take a horseback riding tour.  I'm a horse girl so it was a must for me but my FI had never ridden before and said of all our trips to Vegas that was the biggest highlight!

Definitely see the cirque du soleil LOVE show. You will not regret it!!

This is a total locals place, and a total dive bar - but the Ellis Island Supr 8 Restaurant has an amazing steak dinner for 5.99. My honey and I go every time, even if it's 8 AM! You get an incredible thick, juicy steak for dirt cheap!

Utilize the Deuce bus, and check out all the freebies like the lions at MGM grand and the cheesey pirate shows at treasure island! and don't forget to WIN BIG!!
