Hi there – I am actually from this area (I live in Tampa Bay, but grew up in Dunedin, which is right near Honeymoon Island).

There is a lot to do here, and I’d be glad to help you out. The biggest thing I can suggest is to hire a local wedding planner. I know someone who is relatively inexpensive and is actually a friend of mine (Beachangel Weddings).

For hotels, there are a few places right in Dunedin that you can stay at. Clearwater Beach is a big tourist area. As far as things to do, that depends on what you want to do. You can rent bikes and go for a bike ride on the Pinellas Trail. You can go to Busch Gardens or Adventure Island in Tampa (about a 45 minute drive) and they are great theme parks.

As far as a rehearsal dinner is concerned, that depends on your budget. I would be glad to help with some more info. 🙂

You can rent kayaks and go hunting for manatees. You can visit all the local parks (Phillipe Park is pretty, Anderson park, Hammock Park). There are lots of old Indian reservations in the area.

The Safety Harbor Resort and Spa isn’t far from Dunedin and has a nice restaurant. A lot of places don’t take reservations in this area for large parties on Friday night, but some of the smaller restaurants might.

I absolutely suggest a visit to the Tarpon Springs sponge docks – it is an area where there is a dense Greek population. The restaurants are fantastic and there is a lot of intense culture there to explore.
