What are you doing after your BIG day – Honeymooning on an island or MiniMooning somewhere local or a few hours away from home? We found a really good deal for St Lucia, but the flights were horrible and we didn’t book. We’re in dire need of ideas! What are you doing??

We didn’t do anything. I took a couple days off and just stayed at home and Darling Husband went back to work. We thought about mini-mooning but decided we’d rather just take whatever money a mini-moon would have cost us and throw it at the honeymoon. Initially I was bummed not to do anything immediately after…since it’s “tradition” but now I’m stoked that we have something to look forward to a year after the wedding.

@dmarpitt: We are waiting 6 weeks before we fly off to the Caribbean. We will spend 1 wk in Puerto Rico & another week crusing with Celebrity. We thought about a mini-moon but it would prefer to save the days & $$ for something awesome!

We’re getting married Saturday and leaving the Monday after our wedding for Key West. We’re coming home that Friday because we are getting married during the busy season at my fiance’s work where he only has 1 day off per week (he is a pool/spa/patio salesman). I suggested waiting until August (busy season is April – July) to go on our honeymoon, but he felt it’d be more special to go right after the wedding.

We are doing a mini-moon to a resort and spa in a quaint little town a few hours away from where we live. We’ll get massages and go on hikes, visit little shops and go kayaking. Really low key.
To me, a honeymoon simply means being together with your new spouse and spending some time alone, away from everything and everyone. In our mini-moon plan, we will certainly get all that and more!
Honeymoons nowadays however are defined by tropical beaches. Not my thing really. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love a lavish week-long vacation where I get to sit on a beach all day but it’s just not realistic or romantic in my eyes. Plus, we would rather put that amount of money towards other, real life stuff (like buying a house or paying off some debt). However, we do want to go away for a bit, rest up, enjoy married bliss, before it’s back to reality.
Let us know what you decide! As long as you’re together, you can enjoy yourselves anywhere!

@dmarpitt: we are getting married on the Big Island of Hawaii then flying to Kauai for a week in his family’s timeshare. We are taking 2 weeks next February to go to Bora Bora. We wanted to do Bora Bora right after but only have 2 weeks off total for the wedding and honeymoon and we are going to the Big Island a week before the wedding. Fiance wanted to have at least 10 days for going to Bora Bora so we will do that right before we start trying to have kids.

Honeymoon a week later! We’re going on a week long Carnival cruise through the East Carribean, then spending 4 days in San Juan!

@BrandNewBride: Wo hoo! San Juan! I’m looking forward to time there, do you have anything planned?

We got married in September, but Darling Husband really wanted a ski honeymoon. We decided to delay (so it was roughly 6 months) and did a 12 day honeymoon to Vail, CO last month. We considered a mini-moon, for just a few days right after the wedding and going somewhere like Charleston but both of us were so slammed with work that we just didn’t even bother with it.

@Nic01: Just the hotel! I think we’re staying at the same one, right? The 8 room B&B?
We wanted to do the bioluminescent bay, but it’s going to be a full moon while we’re there!

We are going directly to a hotel that night , package includes a 2 course meal for 2, a bottle of champagne, a box of choccies and brekkie in the morning. Then the next eveneing we are flying directly to Malaysia for our 2 week honeymoon sooo….both?
We decided to have a smaller wedding so we could spoil ourselves rotten afterwards!

We did a mini-moon for two nights right after the wedding and did our honeymoon two months later. A delayed honeymoon worked out better for both of our schedules, but I knew I wanted us to get away together and relax right afterward.

We are doing a mini-moon to DC for a few days, and then plan on taking a longer trip in a year or so, once we can save up for it. We have a dog, so my parents are going to stay in town a few extra days to dog sit for us while we’re away.

I’m waiting to see what finances are like after the wedding. since I’m getting married in December I need to travel pretty far to get a sunny honeymoon. But honestly, my ideal holiday would be a trip around Italy – Rome, Venice, Florence, Tuscany. This would mean waiting about 6 months. I don’t know what to do!!!!!!!
Would any other Bees wait 6 months??

@dmarpitt: We’re doing a mini-moon after the wedding in June and driving down to Charleston for 4 days. Then in the winter we will do an island/tropical honeymoon.
