Anyone else having to put their honeymoon plans on hold because of the economy? My fiance and I both lost our jobs in the past two months. I have found something, but we are currently operating on 1/3 of the income we had three months ago. Thankfully, my parents will be paying for the wedding, but the honeymoon is to be our expense. We are (obviously) having to put that on hold for the moment. Our wedding is in August and we're hoping to be able to book something before then, but we may have to get creative and do something close to home (thankfully we live near the beach in Florida!)

Anyone else having to put their honeymoon plans on hold? Has anyone re-adjusted their plans because of the economy?

We may be doing the same thing.  We've been working to get our selves completely out of debt and stay out of debt throughout the wedding process, so it's kind of against what we've been working for to go and spend $3-6k on a honeymoon right after the wedding.  We are toying with the idea of doing our honeymoon as a one year anniversary trip so that we can take what we are given for the wedding and add our savings.  Plus it's an amazing way to celebrate our anniversary.

Yes! Fi got laid off about four months ago. While we are still going through with the wedding as planned, our plans for a honeymoon have taken a hit. We're also getting married in August. Right now we are either going to postpone it until later this year (maybe around November) or not go at all. We're thinking of a few days off somewhere locally. This is all pretty sad for me because I love international travel.

Don't worry though. You're not alone on this one.

We don't have any plans for a honeymoon right now.  For a while we thought that my FI wouldn't have a job after graduation.  He just got a job but we are going to be moving across the country a month after the wedding!  Doesn't really leave free money or time for a honeymoon.  We are definetly lucky that he found a job though.

I've known a people to do that.  I bet it's pretty common these days.  Don't worry, it will be a great honeymoon no matter when you take it.  And you can just take longer to plan it and get excited for it!

Don't worry, you're not the only ones in this situation.  We were originally planning a trip to the Caribbean, but we realized we just don't have the money right now to do that.  We're paying for the wedding ourselves, so we're stretched pretty thin already.

We decided to do a "mini-moon" at a resort a few hours away.  We're going away for three days, which should still be a nice trip.  I hope tha someday, once our money situation is a little better off, we'll be able to do a bigger trip.  Maybe we'll do something for our first anniversary! :)

We probably will be too.  We just can't seem to find the money and we even are planning a fairly inexpensive HM.  We are both bummed, but what can ya do?
