Gorgeous! Honestly, I think Africa is wayyyy underrated on the 'beautiful scenery' scale. I'm so jealous you were able to experience this all!
Wow, amazing/beautiful photos! Looks like you had a fantastic time!
@ceamoste: Totally agree that it's underrated. I was honestly floored by how beautiful it was--not only the wildlife but also the landscape. It's SO different from anything I've seen before, especially here in NYC :)
Thanks for sharing more INCREDIBLE photos with us!!
P.S. I'm still feeling envy. lol
Omg. I could never have swam in that pool!!!! I literally would have sh@t my bathing suit!!!!!! It made my hands clammy just looking at it! I'm so clumsy I would have slipped and gone over the edge. You are SO brave!!!!! Oh and PS - That zebra is gorgeous. That must have been amazing to see "in real life" rather than in a zoo!
This is absolutely amazing. You definitely get the coolest honeymoon award. Sheesh, Bermuda (where we're honeymooning) isn't even in the same realm as this! lol
ETA: Devils Pool looks TERRIFYING!
Wow hilsy that's awesome! That waterfall is amazing. I totally would not have been brave enough to swim in the devil's pool!
Re: Devil's Pool: DH and I definitely both had a moment where we looked at each other and were like "What the eff are we doing? We want to see our next birthdays!" But I give the guides sooo much credit--we never felt unsafe at all. However, we didn't tell our parents we were doing it until after we were done--and then we sent them a link to a youtube video :)
@bakerella: Haha the guides literally clamp on to you and drag you into position and then stand behind you so that if you slip back, they can catch you. We literally owe them our lives, an dthey do this ALL the time. Crazy job, huh?
@UpstateCait: We were VERY fortunate to be able to go--but honestly, some of my favorite moments were when we were just lying in bed next to DH and saying, "you're my HUSBAND!". Such a cool feeling :) You'll have an amazing time no matter where you go because you'll be married (and the stress of the wedding will be over, lol. Seriously, I think it took my body a few days to realize that I didn't have to deal with guest lists and RSVPs and centerpieces anymore, and then it was like a huge weight was lifted!!).
making my rounds in hilsy's recaps, haha.
This is JUST.WOW. Look at that Zebra, so pretty! You guys are very brave, Im afraid of heights.
Im so glad you are sharing this with us!
@hilsy85: I just looked up videos on YouTube and dude, I so could not do that. I would lose it. I nearly lost it freaking snorkelling in 10' deep water and seeing a lion fish. I could not do that. You have my utmost admiration :)
Oh my goodness... it is one of my dreams to go to Victoria Falls, and more specifically Devil's Pool! I am wicked jealous... Your pics are amazing, it looks like you had a fabulous honeymoon!!!!
Beautiful! Can I just copy your itinerary and take the exact same trip, please? I'll be honest - I'm an adenaline junkie and Devil's Pool looks awesome (as does the bungee jump location - although I really want to do the 007 jump in Switzerland someday)!
@bakerella: Haha I actually don't blame you--snorkelling is an intense experience, man! We went in Mozambique and when we were done, my muscles ached because I had been soo tense and nervous the whole time. I was also waaay too much of a chicken to try SCUBA diving--we practiced it in the pool and I freaked out as soon as I couldn't go back above water to breathe. not for me! But I promise, if you're ever at Vic Falls, you'll do Devil's Pool--you get caught up in the rush and peer pressure! And it's so worth it after you're done :)
@Mrs.KMM: Haha definitely a good trip for an adrenaline junkie!! We had to swim across part of the falls to get to the pool, and there's a current that you can feel tugging at you. We had to make a human chain to get across--my heart was racing, that's for sure!

Okay, so after we left South Africa, we went to Zambia. Our main purpose in going here was to see Victoria Falls, one of the 7 natural wonders of the world--and for good reason!
The really scary part was that there was practically no barrier between you and the edge of the falls while you were on the path. They had a little dinky chain fence, which we saw many people climbing over to take better pictures. Not us--we were not that desperate for a great shot!
This is the bridge that connects Zambia to Zimbabwe--apparently it's a popular bungee jumping spot. Again, not us!
However, we did do something kind of insane. We swam in Devil's pool, which is a natural pool formed at the edge of the falls. You can only swim in it during the dry season, because otherwise there's too much water and the current basically drags you over the edge. It was terrifying, but so exhilarating!
Our guides were obviously braver than we were!
While in Zambia, we also got to go on more game drives and a river cruise. We were able to see zebra, which were the one animal we had missed in South Africa.

And then, it was off to Mozambique for our last stop--beach paradise!
