I am thinking of making a honeymoon registry. Any suggested sites for this? We have our tickets booked to St. Lucia and I was thinking of trying to off-set costs of accommodations, activities and food by doing this. Are these a good idea?

So, if we pick a resort and excursions, do we have to stick with those particular items or can we change based on how much money we are given??

We initially had a honeymoon registry with Honeyfund but quickly changed it. Honeyfund has advertising on your registry page and if your guests want to use their credit card, you have to pay a fee. Otherwise, they send you a check in the mail which we thought was a bit crass. We switched over to Traveler’s Joy. Yes, they charge a fee of 7% but they accept all credit cards and we can redeem our gifts at anytime. Also, our guests don’t have to write a check and mail it to us. We thought the conenience for us and our guests and no ads on our registry page was more than worth the 7%.

@BlondeBride090211: You should try to make the activites as close as possible to what you want to do. That way people arent confussed when they booked a portion of your helicopter ride and you deicded to go on a safari… IMO.
I would make quite a few price points for people and you’ll be fine

I want to do a regular registry plus a honeymoon registry. But when I mentioned it to my Fiance he gave me a weird look. He’s not comfortable of asking people to help pay for our trip?Is it weird?

we really like using http://www.depositagift.com for ours. it’s great for honeymoon registries, but also nice because you aren’t limited to only registering for the honeymoon. you can register for anything you’d like monetary contributions towards, so we also added date nights, and some big ticket items that could be group gifts, but is much easier this way…things like furniture, a flatscreen and a grill.
the nice part is that you aren’t stuck with anything in particular, whether it be the excursions or where you want to do your date nights. you still create specific gift items so that it works like a regular registry, but then you get the money so you have the flexibility to spend as you wish. it’s working great for us. we like deposit a gift because it’s the most like a store registry in terms of how it looks and operates…they take credit cards, phone orders, etc. when researching, i found it to be the nicest one out there!
@earlybride: maybe you could talk about it this way: people paying for parts of your trip is no different than them paying for parts of your set of dishes or your linens. but this way you actually get something you’ll really enjoy and not return. i got lots of ideas when looking at the DAG testimonials, so maybe that will help you too: http://www.depositagift.com/testimonials

i used http://www.honeymoonwishes.com and thought it was very easy, userfriendly, and nice looking.

We’re also using honeymoonwishes.com. I like it because it does the writing of the blurbs for you. Though they don’t sound like anything either of us would actually write, that feels like a good alternative to having to think of the little comments myself.
There are also a lot of options of what to choose from which is nice, and lots of pictures to choose from.
As far as what to post, I’d suggest adding anything from travel (flights, rental cars) to activities (massage, beach adventures, surfing lessons) to meals. The nice thing about a honeymoon registry is that it gives suggestions for all of that stuff, to give you some ideas.
Oh, and I’m pretty sure there is a fee involved, though I’m 99% sure that honeymoonwishes allows you to decide whether you or your guest pays the fee, which I like.

We are using thehoneymoon.com Our travel agent sugggested it. They all pretty much charge a fee but after doing research I found that this seemed to be the least expensive one. There are SOOO many options though!!
