My FI and I are getting married in January, but due to school we're waiting until I graduate in May to go on our honeymoon. Only problem is, we have no idea where we want to go! I'll admit, FI and I are both chickens and afraid to fly (LOL) but we're not completely ruling it out. We're completely alright with staying in the United States. Anyone have any suggestions on where we could go? They'd be greatly appreciated!

Edit: We LOVE the beach and are really wanting to go somewhere beachy and relaxing.

What are you looking to get out of your honeymoon?

    Relaxing?  Adventures?  Nightlife?

    What about the Florida Keys?

Tell us a little more about what you have in mind...

EDIT - - I agree with @SanDiegoAli...Cape Cod, Nantucket, Marthas Vinyard etc...

I'm not very familiar with beaches on the East Coast, but I'm sure there are a lot of them.

    Maybe Martha's Vineyard type place?

We just went to Mexico, specifically a resort called Zoetry and LOVED it.  Beautiful beaches, fantastic food, unlimited drinks, gorgeous rooms, infinity pool and amazing service.  Fantastic snorkeling on the second longest barrier reef in the world.  Yes, you would have to take a plan, but totally totally worth it!

There are tons of other options in the area, but I cannot recommend our resort highly enough!

@jackie-o- I just want somewhere relaxing, preferably somewhere on the beach. But I would like something that also has attractions around it (theme parks, water parks, etc) We're definitely considering somewhere in Florida.

@SanDiego - I've always heard of Martha's Vineyard, but don't know much about it. What is there to do there?

we are 99% sure we are going to zoetry too! they are having a big sale on bookit.com yet, but the prices for 2011 are still kind of high. i'm watching it like a hawk though and will book as soon as the price is right.

We're doing a private island in Belize. You can fly from Dallas or Miami to Belize City I believe.

If you live in Alabama - Martha's Vineyard is way up by Massachucetts. So you would have to fly there. You know what is really nice? Marco Island on the Gulf Coast in Florida!

@snuggielove - Marco Island is definitely looking like a contender right now! It's gorgeous. Where are some good places to stay there?

I stayed 2 years ago at the Marriott Resort. It was awesome!! I won a sales trip for work and I know that it was expensive. But hey - it's your honeymoon!

I completely agree with @jackie-o about the Florida keys. Check out Siesta Key...it has the most gorgeous soft, powdery white sand. It is near Sarasota. There are a lot of keys in that general area that are all beautiful. In my opinion, the sand on Siesta makes it a favorite :-)

We're goin on a 7 day cruise to Jamaica, Cayman Islands, and Cozumel. We wanted a relaxing yet still be able to go and have fun in several different places type of trip. AND it wasn't that expensive..I think only 1400 for a balcony room!

@julialimei- Siesta Key is beautiful! Definitely going to show that one to my FI.

@Jessica - That sounds wonderful! I hope you and your FI will have a great time. That's extremely reasonably priced also!!
