I tend to plan vacations in the sky. I research flights, hotels, price everything out, and then send the idea to my now-fiance. We honestly never book things, but have an inventory of wouldn’t-it-be-nice ideas between the two of us. I’ve always done this, and once we started dating, I started sharing them with him.
In June, I read a blog from someone who went on vacation to St. Lucia and I fell in love with the Pitons. I had been really looking at Bora Bora for the tropical + mountain view, but the price tag was more than my imaginary pocketbook was willing to think was feasible. So I started snooping around for deals in St. Lucia.
Fast forward to August & we get engaged! After we set the date and figure out venue, I start planning the honeymoon, because I needed that carrot at the end of the planning that was just for us!
Well, I found an amazing deal at this little boutique hotel in St. Lucia that has a view of the Pitons and is just gorgeous and has great reviews. I found a great deal on airfare, too. And I booked it! Honestly, I’m still proud of my deal-finding. I may enjoy that aspect almost as much as just experiencing the honeymoon.
Last night, I was catching up on The Bachelor with my group of girlfriends who get together each monday night to watch talk over The Bachelor, and lo & behold they’re in St. Lucia. And those views seem really similar. OMIGOODNESS That’s my honeymoon hotel! But now it’s going to be all popular and The Bachelor-y, ugh!
It’s going to be a little difficult not to make those visual notes on where things are taking place there, now. And it’s stupid, but part of me doesn’t even want to get together to watch next week with my friends because then I’ll have images of the television show superposed on my honeymoon memories, since I have a very visual memory.
I know that I’m not going to not go meet up with my friends over something so petty, but it still bugs me that my little gem of a resort that I found through research and felt like I discovered is now on national television. Granted, it just underlines that the place must have one of the best views in St. Lucia since the location scout picked it for the rose ceremony and finale next week.
It doesn’t quite make sense to be even a little upset about this, but it was my little secret deal of an amazing boutique resort, and now it’s everyone who watches The Bachelor’s view of St. Lucia.
