I LOVE Little Dix Bay on Virgin Gorda. I thought we received very good service and the room was wonderful. Location- gorgeous... It's definitely pricey but I had such a great time there just relaxing on the beach. We rented a car to tour the island, go to the Baths, etc. I would definitely go back.
You said that you are interested in sailing, my husband and my cousin have both done week long sailing trips around the BVI (mostly Tortola and Virgin Gorda) and ended up at Bitter End Yacht Club for a short stay. I think this is mostly a sailing resort. I think they both really liked it.
Peter Island is a huge honeymoon resort. I haven't stayed there but have visited for the day. It was a gorgeous little island with many secluded beach coves and a nice layout. And when we visited we had a delicious lunch. Although it's super pricey and I've heard the service is spotty... I can't recommend since I haven't stayed there overnight.
I'm sure Tortola has some other great hotels as well. And I have read good things about Biras Creek on Virgin Gorda too... Good luck!
A lot of the sailing in the BVI's are week or longer charters, I would say more of the day sails are done out of the USVI. I stayed in Cane Garden Bay in a rental apartment, which was a lot of fun but may not be your ideal honeymoon idea. "Bigger" resorts on Tortola include Sugar Mill and Long Bay. If you have more money to spend, there are a few places on private islands, like Peter Island. There are a few hotels on Virgin Gorda (Biras Creek for one), which is a short ferry ride from Tortola, but not a lot going on there other than the Baths, which are amazingly gorgeous with great snorkeling if you haven't seen the pics. Jost Van Dyke is another small island that has a few basic hotels, but is mostly known for the number of beach bars. The drinks at Soggy Dollar will knock your socks off.

BVI is the best. Virgin Gorda is amazing. Same with Jost Van Dyke. You can stay in Tortola as your base and go island hopping. Check out the Nanny Cay marina.
My guy loves to sail too!
Ditto on Virgin Gorda. He also loves Caneel Bay. (I think that's there? He's been there and raves over it).

My fiance and I are still trying to figure out where to go for our honeymoon next June. We were thinking about going to the British Virgin Islands because we have read they have great sailing...he LOVES to sail. We want to at least be able to sail for one day but also relax and do other fun excursions while we are there. Any ideas on where to stay in the BVI? Thanks! :)
