I guess I’m not the type of woman who wants to spend a week overseas and be done with it. I’d rather take several long weekends to little B&B’s in New England or a quiet weekend camping. So if you had to choose one, would you rather have several long weekends to getaway or one big honeymoon for a week?

I picked one long trip because it usually takes me a few days to get in the vacation frame of mind, so by the time I relaxed on our minimoon, it was time to head back to work. We’re taking our official honeymoon at the end of November and will be gone a week. It will be glorious to lay on the beach while Wisconsin probably gets snowed on.

We couldn’t afford much after paying for the whole wedding so we went to Disneyland for 3 days. It didn’t seem long enough to me 😛 and we used to take little trips around Northern CA so I’m probably going to suggest some mini-trips after a few weeks once we’re settled from the wedding. If we could have though, we would have had 1 big honeymoon

haha i agree with Bellini…both! but FI and i have done a 1 week trip every spring somewhere warm so this is nothing new for us. Plus we live only 3 /12 hours from the beach and 2 from the mountains so we take many little weekend trips in the summer to the beach and snowboarding in the winter. I def want that week long (im trying for 10 days) honeymoon..i will need the time to unwind after the wedding. plus i’ve always dreamed my honeymoon to be a week of sun, massages, and really soft bathrobes 🙂

DH and I can take short weekend trips whenever we really want so those don’t really hold the “specialness” to me that a honeymoon should. Obviously they are still good times with my DH but they could never seem like a honeymoon in my mind.

We are probably going to do a honeymoon and also minimoons. but the honeymoon won’t be right after the wedding though.

FI and I travel to Bar Harbor ME about every other weekend. We love it there. It was one of our first dates as a couple, it’s where he proposed, I love the beach in Acadia National Park. It’s my favorite place in the whole world, and we love walking though town, checking out the shops, and going hunting for seaglass by the bay. In the summer, we usually grab an ice cream and sit in the park overlooking the fishing boats 🙂 It’s amazing. So it was a natural choice to pick there as a honeymoon. I know it’s not very far, and we’re only going for 2 days, but it will be a little something extra to be able to stay overnight and have meals there and spend as much time as we want in the park, the beach, etc.

We are doing both! The minimoon was right after the wedding. We drove (~5hrs) up to a little inn in Maine for 5 nights. Eleven months later — 3 weeks from now! — we are going on my dream vacation, which is an African safari. It’s a combination trip: honeymoon and also last hurrah before starting a family. We didn’t have the time, money or energy for this right after the wedding.

My favorite place to go is London (the honeymoon will be my.. 9th(or 10th) trip there and I’m 24 lol). I can’t exactly justify airfare for a 3 day trip, not to mention the jet lag. 2 weeks is ideal for London, imho.
