Honeymoon vs vacation?

The destination for our honeymoon was the same type of destination that we normally vacation to. We’ve taken much larger and longer vacations in the past than what we did for our honeymoon, the only real difference was that we were married and opted for some crazy amazing suites.

We spent two weeks in Turkey & Italy.

@beemyname:  i think a honeymoon would be something you will probably never do/go again… (one and done vacation) like go to UK/Ireland/Scotland/ Affrica ect… or somethink like that..

@beemyname:  A honeymoon is a vacation taken together after the wedding to celebrate the marriage.

Ours probably won’t be much different than a normal vacation. We aren’t staying anywhere super fancy, and we’re not blowing big bucks. We are staying at one five star hotel, but that has been gifted to us from my FMIL (love her!).

The only difference will be that it’s right after our wedding.

honeymoon for us will be like our regular vacations just maybe a little nicer.  FI is not a good traveller. In reality I wish I wish I wish we could travel separately as he is horrible. So I will not fly out of the continental US with him, ever.  I would love to go to Panama and think he would love it but not doing it. I’m thinking Florida 🙂

I guess our honeymoon was the first vacation we took together as a married couple. It was to celebrate the beginning of our new life together.

Other than that, I guess it was more or less like any other vacation. 😛

@beemyname:  We will probably visit our honeymoon destintation again but I am sure it will be a very different trip the next time we go. There is so much excitement about being married when you go and there is so much to celebrate! Also, on vacation we are more likely to be connected via internet while one honeymoon we shut the world out.

Our honeymoon ended up being more of a vacation. Part of that is becuase we delayed for 6 months – got married in fall but wanted a winter/ski honeymoon. By that point it was just like going on vacation, we also had friends come out for a few days too.

Ours was different than usual because we were in the middle of school and job hunting.  And make it an aim to travel a lot so the once in a lifetime places are more frequent for us.

I think of a honeymoon as a vacation taken by a married couple within a year of their wedding.

@beemyname:  I think for any other big vacation we probably would have picked Italy because we are both into history and thats our next trip we want to do but because it was our honeymoon we wanted something that allowed a better combination of relaxation and adventure so we are doing a south caribbean cruise and having some beach days and some adventure days will be nice plus all of the time on the boat to just hang out. We would def. do this as just a vacation to but it would not have been our first choice since like I said we are planning to go to Italy, we just didnt think for us it was the best honeymoon choice (it being in March is a major factor as well)

When we go on vacation, we normally do something pretty high intensity (e.g. backpack through Alaska, road trip across Ireland), so we decided to force ourselves to do something more relaxing for our honeymoon. We are going to Palm Springs for a film festival.

We only had time to do a 4-day minimoon at a destination just a couple hours from where we live… but it was awesome.  After a crazy busy week, we just lazed around and enjoyed ourselves and were all loved up after the wedding.

I think even a couple days away, directly after the wedding, will feel super awesome.
