I lost about 15 pounds to fit into my wedding dress (I bought it a year in advance, gained about 20 pounds, and could not fit into it!).
It was really hard, and the last week before the wedding I was definitely splurging a little, but not doing bad, not losing, but not gaining.
Just got back from the honeymoon, and knew I was feeling bloated, so I weighed myself… and I have gained 5-6 lbs!!!
On a 5 foot frame, that is like 10-15 visually and as far as clothes fitting tighter. Ugh!
How is that even possible in 8 days? I have never put on weight that quickly in my life! I was even on my period the week before, and weighed in at 112 with PMS bloat. Now I am 117.5!
It is SOOOO discouraging to know that just one week of drinking 1-3 glasses of wine or beer a day and having desserts with dinner (I even shared them with FI!) will do that to me. I tried to only eat one splurge meal a day, and most nights that was still chicken or fish.
Anyone else gain weight on their honeymoon?

I know what you are going through- we just got back from a week in Turkey (not a honeymoon but for our official engagement) and I am really feeling it. The food is soooo good there and we were with FI’s family who encourage you to eat and it’s hard to say no. For example, one night we had a sensible dinner at home… then we went out for stuffed mussels, kebabs, and glasses of pickle juice (no joke)… then we went to get ice cream (this stuff is so rich and thick you eat it with a knife and fork).
Not to mention I have been “off routine” with exercise for the last 3 weeks because we just moved out of state… I can hardly bend over to touch my toes anymore.
Any inspiration to get back on track is appreciated!!

@MsBlackberry: Give yourself a couple of days! This will happen to me when i come back from visiting family. I will be about 145, and I am normally 140/142. After a couple of days everything goes back to normal. Your body was probably not used to your diet on your honeymoon, but once you get back into the swing of things you should be good! Im sure you still look beautiful!

@MsBlackberry: I’m sure at least half of that is water weight. Don’t stress! Eat well for a couple days and I’m sure it’ll drop back off.

@kestane: I am feeling pretty motivated. I expected to gain a little, since our honeymoon involved dining at some really nice restaurants that we would normally never spend $$$ on.
I lost the weight fairly quickly before the wedding, but I have a serious sweet tooth and I love wine and cider. Between giving up desserts and almost all alcohol for the pre-wedding diet, I was feeling pretty deprived, but loving the results. So, when I am sure that when I allowed myself to have the treats again almost daily for a week, my body freaked out.
And, yes, my workout routine has been off for almost a month now, with crazy work/school hours, wedding planning, weekend bridal showers, etc.
It didn’t help that a few of the day hikes we planned for the honeymoon got rained out 🙁
It was just such a shock. I am definitely not young with a great metabolism anymore!

I gained about 5lbs…granted I lost a few lbs the week before the wedding because I was too busy/nervous/whatever to have much of an appetite, so it made me go back to my pre wedding-week weight…but I def had a six pack going into the week and a mushy stomach coming out of it, haha
