We haven’t gone yet but we spend about $1200 for a week in a large cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Northern Georgia.

Two weeks in Japan. Flights, accom and rail pass so far ~7k. Taking about 4/4.5k of spending money.

Our current plan is Thailand (from Australia).  We recently spoke to a travel agent who was quoting about $5500 for seven nights in a resort, staying in a really nice private villa with its own pool… sounds like a dream!  But he’s hoping he’ll be able to get the price down for us in a few months (which is fine because we probably won’t be able to book until later in the year).  We still have to budget for meals and activities which will probably bring it closer to $6-7000 but if we can avoid spending that much we will!

We’re going to Chile for around $5,000.  Airfare is ridiculous though or it would be a lot cheaper!

We spent almost 3 weeks in New Zealand. My DH and I rented an RV and drove all around the country. It was such an amazingly fun trip but we spent about 8k including the airfare.

@RedWine13:  My FI and I were looking at going to a Sandals resort as well until I saw the prices – yikes! Total sticker shock! I think there are a lot of great all inclusive options for a lot less than the Sandals resorts. We’re looking into the Excellence resorts (we stayed at the Playa Mujeres for a dating anniversary trip and loved it). I would honestly keep looking – you might have to cut back on dates as well…

At the end of the day, I’m sure you guys will be able to find a great place that also fits your budget (whatever that may be)!

    Good luck!!

Where do you live?  If you are near a port, a cruise could be a lot cheaper than  $6 K.  If I were you, I’d buy the house, and take a less expensive honeymoon.  If the thought of being on a cruise ship isn’t your idea of a great vacation, then find one with a lot of port days where you can explore new destinations instead of sea days, where you are on the boat.

Gran Bahia Principe Coba in the Mayan Riviera is pretty awesome. Probably $2k each?

@RedWine13: We’re planning on the Excellence Playa Mujeres (I think another poster mentioned it). It’s adults only, nice rooms, honeymoon package and excellent reviews which sold me! I definitely recommend looking into it.

We spent 10 days in Ireland, touring around the country on a self-drive tour. We spent about $4k including airfare, car rental and insurance, gas, hotels, food and drink, activities, group tours and souvenirs.
