We went to French Polynesia for ours amd visited three islands, not super budget-friendly but soooo worth it. The pictures can not fully capture the beauty of seeing in person. There might be better deals if you just stay at the main island, Tahiti.
Wherever you go, it will be fun. Remember, it's not the destination but the journey...
We went to Costa Rica and spent about 5k for everything. We stayed in the La Fortuna region where there were more mountains and rain forest, but a popular beach resort town is San Manuel Antonio, I think. A lot of couples were headed that direction from La Fortuna.
We also just got back from Costa Rica. We LOVED it - so much to do in such a beautiful place! We stayed at Oxygen Jungle Villas.
We really wanted to go to French Polynesia but a trip like that would require at least 2 weeks (to be worth the travel) and since DH is in retail, it's his busy time of year and we could not spare that much time. Instead, we decided to go back to a great all-inclusive resort we've been to before in Mexico. It's in Maroma Beach, near Playa Del Carmen and its the best all inclusive we've ever stayed at! (we aren't always fans of all-inclusives because they can come times be a little un-classy with wasted people everywhere). Anyways, the resort name is Secrets Maroma Beach, the food is AMAZING, the staff is so nice, the beach is the nicest in that side of Mexico, and you're close to playa del Carmen so you can get out of the resort and go out for dinner one night. Also, if you like snorkeling and scuba diving, Cozumel is a 35 minute fairy ride away and is spectacular! We actually just got back from our one week honeymoon and we loved it! We travelled to Jamaica last spring and this resort definitely trumped the sandals in Negril. We upgraded our room and all an all it was a little less than 5k (4,700$ I think)
we're currently trying to decide between FP Islands and brazil. Our plan is to go from bora bora to moorea then one more island in the area however I'm worried we'll get "bored" (I know sounds ridiculous).
one of my good friends went to FP Islands for her HM and every picture is the same (albeit, beautiful).
@rascoprints: did you feel like you had enough activities and places to go outside of the resorts (restaurants, bars, etc)?
Wet went to Secrets Wild Orchid in Montego Bay Jamaica. It's a 5-star on the beach and absolutely gorgeous. We paid just over 5K for it.
Because we live in DC but are getting married in So Cal (where I am from) we wanted to go somewhere kind of in between (so Fiji was out). We decided on Aruba. A ton of people we know love it there and the price was right.
We delayed our honeymoon to end of this year, hubby and I are heading to Koh Samui and Bangkok, Thailand in December. Can't wait to just relax on the beach and eat lots of yummy food!
@mstellah: We did Moorea and Bora Bora. How many days are you planning to be gone? The two islands were perfect for our 7 night honeymoon. Also, I would suggest going to Moorea first. Everyone that had been told us that Bora Bora was even more amazing than Moorea. While in Moorea we couldn't figure out how that could be true...then we flew in to BB and it really was more beautiful! Glad we went there second!
we are going to Cancun July 7, 2013 and cannot wait. im very budget cautious but still wanted luxury. lol i found an amazing honeymoon room at crown paradise club cancun. were paying 2400, and its all incluaive, inclusing flight and travel from airport to hotel. i HAD to have a jacuzzi on the balcony and was amazed i could get it for that price check bookit.com, great deals

My FI and I are starting to think of places to go for our honeymoon but want other peoples reviews. We are looking for a beachy/tropical area like Costa Rica, Jamacia, Bahamas, St Barts....etc. Where did you go and would you recommend it? We are going sometime in late june to august time.
we are getting married in june 2014 but are going to try to book it early for better pricing and to pay it off early. so we are looking for budget friendly. We know this is our HONEYMOON so we are expecting to pay $$$$ for it but not looking to spend over $4000-$5000 for just hotel and flight.
Thank fellow BEES!!!!
