I heard Couples Swept Away Jamaica is really beautiful and affordable!  FI and I have good friends who went for their honeymoon and go back every year since!

Hurricane season is June through November for the carribbean. Just a heads up. Although it would be your best bet for a great, inexpensive, beach honeymoon.

ve been to Dominican, Cuba, Florida and Jamaica. And while they all have their unique pros and cons, I always suggest Jamaica. It was awesome. I think I would like to have my honeymoon on Costa Rica. Although we are having ‘destination planned elopement’ so honeymoon will be postponed.. Maybe as a first year anniversary trip.

We are going to Couples Tower Isle in Jamaica next month! Knowing that its truly all inclusive is such a weight off my shoulders. I’ve read that Jamaica doesn’t get the brunt of hurricane season either, but I don’t know how true that is.

We went to Sandals in St Lucia (Halcyon Beach) for 10 days and stayed in a conceigre suite for about 6k this past September. might be worth looking into a standard room to see how much they are. Besides, you only go on one honeymoon – might as well splurge!

COLOMBIA! OMG, they have some of the best beaches, great food, and you can fly there relatively cheaply from the US. Anywhere in the North of S. America (or Central America) would be awesome and relatively cheap. I’m not sure how many all-inclusives you’ll find, but there are bound to be a few. Plus, you can avoid the hurricanes!

Of course, take that with a grain of salt as I’m a bit of an adventure traveller. For a more subdued experience, maybe try Hawaii? If you’re on the West Coast, Hawaii can be affordable to fly to and it’ll be really nice in September. I was just there for a friend’s birthday last month and it was 80 degrees every day! Mexico will likely also have some good options, but just make sure you stay in well-travelled areas like Cancun (no Juarez honeymoons :))

This is my personal opinion, but I HATED Jamaica (I’ve been to 35 countries and it’s one of my bottom two). I didn’t feel safe there, I was constantly harassed by the locals to buy things, and I didn’t really think the food or beaches were anything to write home about. That said, an all-inclusive will insulate you from a lot of that, but if you do plan to go to Jamaica, stay on the resort and don’t venture out alone. It’s a miserable experience!

Vroberts5255:  We are going to the Dominican Republic in February, so not your Fall honeymoon like you had asked about. But, I know of friends who have gone to Mexico in September for their honeymoon and it was fine.

Or, take a mini-moon now somewhere near your home and take a bigger vacation later when Hurricane season is done in the areas you want to possibly go to.

Vroberts5255:  We went to Aruba – though our hotel would be out of your price range, there are cheaper all inclusives on the island. It was seriously SO awesome, and Aruba is out of the hurricane belt so no worries there!
