Honestly... I def. would look into staying part of your trip on St John or another island. We spent a few days in St Thomas before heading to the BVI (a few years ago now) - and it was nice but really highly commercialized and it didn't feel very safe at night.
Getting there and taking a ferry to the BVI was pretty easy. There is also a ferry to St John's, and I regret we didn't ferry out for even a day - if we go again, that's where I'm going to lobby to stay.
That having been said... we were traveling on a budget, but I LOVED where we stayed in St Thomas. Definitely no frills, but fun and private and the people were friendly. It was Galleon House - might be worth looking into if the dates of the house don't line up right.
we stayed at wyndham on st tomas and spent one day on st johns-- just a hike.. just last year .. we loved it.. st johns is strict on swim suits not on beaches.. make sure u cover up!! wyndham was all inclusive so it was lot cheaper then going out to drink and eat at local resturants.. bring sunscreen. even if 'you dont burn" u will burn.. lol i was miserable coming home cause my back was lobster red. :( st johns has tons of hiking trails secluded beaches . absolutely beautiful
We stayed 10 days at Westin on St John for our honeyoon. It wasnt their usual Westin standard. The grounds were beautiful, but the rooms left much to be desired. I heard that the resort at Caneel Bay is really nice. Another group I met there told me that you can go for lunch there, and then have access to their resort and use all their facilities. I did a Virgin Gorda/Baths tour and that was really neat.

hi bees!
recently my FW and I got gifted with one of the most amazing gifts - a honeymoon!!!! :) A woman I used to work for owns a house in St Thomas and is giving it to us for the week after our wedding (not really where we had originally thought of going, but with us paying for the wedding, we realized we were probably going to have to put off the honeymoon - enter one of the most amazing people I know and now we can go! and save our $ for an adventure trip for an anniversary! yay!)
One of our parents has also offered to help us pay for a couple of nights in a hotel in a neighboring island so that we can have that experience too - yay!
So, I am wondering - do any of you have any ideas or suggestions for hotels to go to - we are looking to be able to take a ferry from St Thomas - and if possible, do all inclusive, but if not, that is okay too!
thanks so much for any help!!
