I’d go somewhere warm like Florida!  Check out Sanibel Island.  There’s also Miami and Ft. Lauderdale on the Atlantic Coast too.

Why do you have to stay in the US?  If it is a passport issue remember you can go to the USVI or Puerto Rico without one.

Not sure what the weather is like in CA in January, but pics of both wine country and Big Sur ae beautiful!

If you ski or like the winter weather, I’d check into the ski resorts out west and in New England.

What about Hawaii? It’s in the US, and it would be fantastic in January.

I was going to suggest San Diego. Stay in the Hillcrest House B&B. We were there in February – it was warm and wonderful. I’ve also been to Monterey and Big Sur over Christmas – gorgeous.

I actually wouldn’t suggest Florida, it’s not hot enough to enjoy the beach at that time of year… so I don’t see the reason to go.  I was born there, so I might be biased.. I don’t really like the state that much. sorry any florida lovers.

I’d think doing something wintery would be fun… like going to Heavenly or another Lake Tahoe area resort, it’s so beautiful there…and enoying some skiing and snuggling by a fireplace and hot chocolate. Embrace the winter wedding.

Otherwise, Hawaii would be good because there are lots of sight seeing things to do there. Or just convince your family member to give you a budget and plan accordinglly, there are plenty of placess in the southern caribbean/mexico you could go for a good price that would actually be warm enough to enjoy the beaches.
