what do you and your fi like to do? what kind of honeymoon are you planning (adventure/relaxation/both)?? a good place to check is tripadvisor.com. i love to travel and find that place very useful.

we are planning on going to the seychelles for some r&r, then south africa and botswana for safari and touring, if we have 3 weeks. if we only have 10 days, then we will just go to the maldives.

Theknot.com has some great resources for helping you narrow down a HM spot.  ladybuglove has some good points.  You first need to think about what you’d like to be doing…do you want to relax?  Sightsee?  Go on excursions?  That will automatically help you narrow down your choices and you can use theknot.com to look at what the weather is during any given month for lots of places.  For example, you’ll want to avoid the Caribbean during the rainy season.

The Excellence @ Dominican Republic.

Pass. Unless you want food poisioning lol! Everyone we met that week from all the resorts spent half the week in the bathrooms having a very not intimate honeymoon. DR is nice, but we won’t be going back.

Nice resort, food was ok. Not stellar or 5 star or insanely delicious by any means.

My parents stay at Riu resorts and just rave about them.

We are going to Italy, spending a couple of days in Rome and then heading out to Florence. He’s a huge foodie and I love art history, so it’s a trip we will both enjoy and get some relaxation in between. Just make sure to avoid cruise in Caribbean during hurricane season or any resorts during that time, and if you do book something out there especially during hurricane season make sure you buy insurance!!! I worked at a travel agency and watched honeymoons go bad when people didn’t buy insurance especially during hurricane season.

We’re going to Couples Tower Isle in Jamaica, they offer a lot to do at the resort and of course it’s all inclusive, I’ve seen a lot of positive reviews about the place and I’m excited. There’s also quite a bit to do off the resort (I want to go zip lining!), which was what my FI and I wanted. We wanted the beach and relaxing part but also some activities so we aren’t bored. It’s up to you and your FI and what you want to do, but let us knwo what you decide!

Currently, we’re in glacier national park enjoying our honeymoon. We’ve been hiking, swimming and relaxing in one of the most beautiful places on earth. I’ll be sad to head home tomorrow, but so happy we had such an amazing honeymoon.

My husband and I went to London and Paris. We stayed at the London Bridge Hotel (awesome) and Hotel Acacias Etoile (great location and friendly staff, but not the nicest room).

We had a great time, but it was not the relaxing honeymoon that we really needed after a year of planning. I kind of wish we had saved that trip for a few years and done the whole relaxing thing instead.

We went to Thailand, a few days in Bangkok at the Peninsula (loved it) and some relaxing time by the beach in Koh Samui. It was nice if it’s a relaxing (not too active) honeymoon you’re looking for. Just avoid the rain season in Thailand.

@ doctorgirl – Woo-hoo!  You’re married!  I’m so glad you’re having an awesome time in Glacier…  and I can’t wait to see the pictures!

I agree with pp that you have to figure out what you like to do and then choose a place from there.  We went to Europe for two weeks, which was super fun, but not the traditional “lying on the beach” honeymoon.  We live on a lake, so we wanted to do all the things on our honeymoon we can’t do up here (e.g. be in the city, sight-see old buildings, eat lots of different kinds of food, etc…).  Once you decide what you’re interested in, it’ll be easier to decide a general location for the honeymmon and then narrow it down from there.

We’re honeymooning in Vermont, which is about a two hour drive from our ceremony site. We were originally planning a big Hawaii trip, but in the end, because our wedding is in NY, and we’re in Chicago, we decided to keep it low-key for our honeymoon to give ourselves some down time (which we already feel like we desperately need!). We plan on doing nothing but eating, sleeping and taking leisurely walks/hikes, and maybe the occasional shopping trip at the oulets 🙂 We’re staying at a lovely inn for five days, and we ended up being able to splurge a bit because Inns/B&B’s are less expensive (plus, we had no airfare).

We’re planning a huge trip to Italy for our one-year anniversary. We figured we’d enjoy it more if it didn’t immediately follow a wedding weekend extravaganza.

But it really depends on what kind of people you are, and what you want to do!

how about checking out the book 1000 places to see before you die (there’s a domestic and an international version). there’s got to be something in there that strikes your fancy!

we’re going to a beach resort in malaysia – sounds exotic i know but that’s where my parents are so we’ll get to spend a few days with them along the way too!

We are going on a 7 night cruise to the Bahamas out of Baltimore.  It’s perfect because we only live about 30 mins away from port.  We love cruises because there is always something going on.

We’re going to go to the Adventrua Spa Palace in Mexico.  We haven’t gone yet but I’m really looking foward to it.
