I was engaged back in 2002 - never got married but got the dress thing done - and was appalled by how much it would cost to alter pretty much ANYTHING to fit my 5'3" height and my (then) 105lb short-waisted self.
So that was then. Up to 135lbs now (much healthier) but still short-waisted and squarish, still 5'3". I was dreading dress shopping again just thinking of how alterations were going to blow my budget. It's expensive to get dresses shortened in the middle, not just hemmed at the bottom!
Well, HOORAY for David's Bridal petite sizing!
I tried on The Dress (Galina Signature SWG9902, pics in this post: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/bought-my-dress-tonight-everything-i-didnt-know-i-wanted-o) in the store in a size 8, which only needed a clip in the back but it was tremendously long on me. The consultant suggested I order a 6P - it took 3 inches off the hem and - miracle! - an inch and a half off the bodice.
It arrived the other day and ladies, with 2" heels on, it's perfect. I need a bustle, cups and that's IT. That is SO MUCH money saved.
Happy happy happy :o)
