I’m a bridesmaid in a wedding in two weeks. I’ll be secretly nine weeks pregnant. The bride has crossed over from her brash self to full-on Bridezilla. Lately I’ve been turning down her non-wedding requests to do things because I’m struggling to cope with her crazy while I myself have hit an emotional rollercoaster. I’m just trying to make it through her wedding without any drama. Then she’ll be on her honeymoon and when she’s back I’m sure we’ll go back to a balanced friendship. Almost every time I’ve seen her over the last year and a half she’s said (in front of everyone) something to the effect of “you better not wear that much make-up on my wedding day.” I don’t understand why she thinks every time I see her I’m auditioning a wedding look, but I’m beyond irritated about it. Any tips for keeping my cool?

Just breathe 🙂 There’s not much you can really do, and at this point the wedding is close enough that you should be able to just let it roll off your back.

Yikes. Just stick with your plan to not hang with her unless it’s wedding stuff. Hopefully the 2 weeks fly by!

@oldmatron: Every time you’ve seen her for the last year and a half she’s made a comment about your makeup? And you haven’t clocked her one? Good for you! In all seriousness though, with the wedding this close, just let it go until it’s all over. If when she returns, her behaviour hasn’t changed, talk to her about it. And really, public non-compliment comments about someone’s appearance is just really rude. I don’t know why some brides think that getting engaged means they get to suddenly go on these rude rampages. Ugh.
Congratulations on your pregnancy!!
