I live in Georgia, and I am getting married in a different county than the one I live in. I was pretty sure I read that as long as you are a resident you can get your marriage license in any county, but I wanted to call and make sure. I also wanted to ask about getting ordained online through the Universal Life Church. We want my uncle to perform the ceremony for us.
I decided to call the county that I’m getting married in. Right off the bat the women that answered the phone seemed annoyed that I was just even calling with questions. She read me off a text book answer to the country marriage license question. Then I said” Ok I have another question regarding getting ordained through the Universal Life Church” and she said “Ok what?” I asked if she was familiar with it and she said yes. So I asked “It’s accepted by the state correct?” and She asked in a snobby voice “Are you the one getting married? Do you accept it?” and I said ..”Uh yes” and she replied “Well there’s your answer!” and HUNG UP! Bitch! My jaw dropped, I just couldn’t believe this women! So much for southern hospitality!
