I am so stressed about the makeup for the wedding. I had someone do my makeup and it was absolutely awful. I can’t find anyone else in Erie, Pa to do it. At the time, I thought it was ok but I wasn’t wow’d by it. I showed some of my friends the pictures and they hate it. They have decided that it was so bad that they do not want the make up artist to do their make up. The wedding is 06/04. I don’t know anyone else that will do the makeup and I feel horrible telling them that I thought it was terrible and I feel awful about telling them that I do not want them to do the makeup.
Help What would you do and does anyone know of any descent makeup artists in Erie Pa?

I don’t know anyone in Erie but have you tried Clinique or Mac counters at the malls? Many girls have success there? Or a Mary Kay rep? Or how about a salon academy??
ETA: Do you or your girls typically wear makeup? What about DIY?

Similar to what the PP said, try out a makeup counter! I’m partial to Bobbi Brown. It’s hip and fresh, not cakey and old fashioned like some makeup I’ve tried. Often times the girls that do makeup there also do private makeup on the side. That’s were I found my wedding makeup gal!

Sorry, to hear that. I just had my trial and I loved it. I want her to do my daily make-up. I found her via weddingwire.com and Google.
I agree w/ the other Bees is to go to a local department store and have your makeup done. My SIL did that and it turned out wonderful.
Check out Craigslist. You will be surprise who advertises there. Check out Yelp.com. Google weddings in your area and often the photographer will indicate make-up and hair stylist. Try Yelp.com. And weddingwire.com . Also talk to hairstylist cause often they know someone who may do day of wedding make-up.

Me too! I hated the trial that the “proffesional” did on me…I looked nothing short of a drag queen. I went to the Estee Lauder makeup counter later that day, they were horrified and took it off and did my makeup….it looked amazing!!!
I would definitely recommend just trying a makeup counter! Good Luck

If going to the mall/department store for a trial run through isn’t an option, google, google, google, and do it yourself! Good luck 🙂

I had the same experience. I thought I was going to WOWed & I was anything but. I asked Dear Fiance how do I go about letting her go & DIY. I hated everything she did to me. My foundation (airbrush) was shiny, my eyeliner was all wacky, she used shimmery eye shadow, she was ok with using false lashes at the trial when I made the appt & didn’t use them instead I had globs & globs of mascara, which was irritating my contacts, blush was too light & lip stick to pink. It was overall a horrible experience.
I did my own make up for my engagement photos & love it. I’m totally going to DIY route.

I planned to have mine done at the MAC counter. They set up a free trial for me. I went and was NOT pleased with the overall look. There was so much foundation my freckles disappeared!
I went the next day to the clinique counter and just asked for advice on the right foundation for me. I found it, bought it along with a really good eyeliner pencil, some eye shadow (I got the blush and mascara free with my purchase!) and then I went and bought some brushes at target… went home to practice. I’ve watched a few tutorials on make-up in the past, so I had a good idea of what to do….there are ton on youtube. I must stay, I was REALLY pleased with how it turned out. I looked WAY better and it was actually pretty easy.

Those are great suggestions!!! I love MAC but Erie, PA does not have MAC or Bobbi Brown In addition, I live in another city an hour and a half away so I do not have the time to go to makeup counters and try out the makeup artists. I called Sephora which is located in JcPenny but they told me that you have to come in and do a consultation with them but there is no guarantee if it is too busy because it is on a Saturday.
I called all of the spas there and the majority were either booked or you have to be an existing client. The wedding is in June and when I called in Januarary they were booked for weddings. I have never heard of the existing client thing before. I also called a beauty school there and they said you have to book a week in advance which means if they are booked when I call then I would not have anyone.
I also feel really bad about cancelling with them. The hair was ok but I was not impressed with them either of the people that I have either but it will do. It is getting down to the wire but I will keep trying.
