@RoyalLime:  your timing isn’t completely horrible. Thursday’s sperms could still be hanging around, and Sunday’s may have gotten it as well.

Keep in mine that sperm live on average about 3 days, and the egg for 12-24 hours, so there is a chance. I’ve seen charts where ppl BD like 5 days before o and still get BFPs.

You’re only 5 dpo. Don’t stress about being out just yet. EoD doesn’t garuntee pregnancy, nor does perfect timing. Just relax a little and see what happens next week.

I found out I was pregnant last month after leaving on a trip without my husband two days before ‘o’ day.   I thought we were completely out of the running for that month because the months before we had BD’d right in the suspected ‘o’ day according to my chart and didn’t get pregnant.   So that just shows that you never know!  I completely understand how frustrating it is though!

@RoyalLime:  If sperm live 3 days(+/-), you BDed on Thursday and ovulated on Saturday, you could totally get pregnant.

When I got my BFP, it was our second cycle so we weren’t trying very hard. We BDed once in the span of a week+ and I was convinced I’d already ovulated. That BFP came as quite a shock. You never know!

I don’t think your timing was bad at all! Thursday to Saturday is 0-2. VERY possible those spermies were hanging out waiting for that egg to drop! I think you have a good chance!

Last month was your first month temping so there is no reason to panic just yet. 6 months is no big deal, but if 4 of those months you were just having sex and not temping then I wouldn’t even count them so def no big deal. If you have 6 months of temping AND having sex when you O  with nothing then it might be worth talking to a Doctor. You are totally normal, I know it is easy to stress but try not to. Temping and timing everything just perfect is hard, you will get it down 🙂

They say (according to scientific studies) that the best day to have sex in order to conceive is two days before ovulation. Don’t count yourself out yet.

I agree with everyone else, I don’t think your timing is all that horrible. I would go stalk FF for a bit. I’ve seen several charts where BD was a few days before O and bam – bfp! So you’re not out. I know how hard this is, and we ALL get frustrated and the best part about it – it’s okay! BUT, WE WILL be great mommies one day! FX for you hun.

It’s not horrible! Relax!

We didn’t have sex for five days before I ovulated (because I thought I was having an annovulatory cycle) the month I got my BFP. We were using Pre-Seed, which I believe you are as well?

You’re not out! Sperm are more resilient than you think.

I agree with everyone else in that I’ve read 2 days before is fine. But I feel you pain– we were the same way– BD every day then EOD leading up to O, and when I finally Oed, it was the only time in 2 weeks that we went 2 days. Too early to know what will happen, but I totally get your frustration. FF is telling me mine timing was good though, if that helps 🙂

@RoyalLime:  just re-read my post. I meant to say that Thursday’s sperms could have been hanging around on o day. Not still as in today. lol. That would be super sperm indeed!

I feel your pain!  We’re on our 10th month TTC and have got our timing wrong several times.  It’s a hard journey.  But, I actually think your timing was really good.  Have you read The Impatient’s Woman’s Guide to Getting Pregnant?  She has done a lot of research and said most sticky babies happen when you BD a day or two before ovulation (I don’t have the book on me at the moment, but I know 2 days before ovulation is supposed to be really successful–I just can’t remember if she said 1 or 2 days is the most successful) She also said you actually have a higher chance of miscarriage if the baby is conceived on the actual day of ovulation.  So don’t count yourself out yet–it sounds like your timing was pretty good!

@cafegirl:  I was thinking about The Impatient Woman’s Guide to Geting Pregnant when I responded to OP too! Love that book!

@RoyalLime:  Just a little further food for thought: I don’t want to get your hopes up unnecessarily, but the month we got our BFP we BDed on CD16 and O’d on CD 18 🙂
