My wedding cake turned out to bw the ugliest
Slab of cake myself and anyone at the reception
Has ever seen. The only thing contractually
Correct was the tiers and the shape. It was beat
Up and completely horrible. I concentrate on
The entire day and this EXPENSIVE ugly cake
Ruined our cake cutting moment! Anyone
Have this happen and what did you do?

Did it taste good at least?

sriilonghorns: I’m going to be honest here–I was expecting something more along the lines of this:
I think it looks nice–maybe not as sharp and clean on the detailing as it could have been, but not a complete disaster. But it’s obviously not what you were expecting, so I understand being bummed out.

sriilonghorns: Yikes! Okay, now I see why you are upset. That does not have anywhere near the neatness/detailing that your inspiration cake has. Have you spoken to the bakery/vendor about it?

sriilonghorns: you have every right to be upset. This happened to my sister. She gave the baker a picture of exactly what she wanted and ended up with something completely different than what she had asked for. The cake she wanted originally was a beautiful white cake with ornate designs and she got a cake that was this weird grey/purple colors with really bad details and red flowers. She also paid for a cake base rental and did not get one. we were extremely surprised since this was a well known baker that had made countless beautiful cakes for us before. Sometimes these people just overbook themselves and slip up.
I recommend you go talk to the baker and show them a picture of what you asked for and the actual cake. Tell them why you hated it and how upset you are about the final product. My sister did that and ended up getting a partial refund, so at least she didnt have to pay so much for her cake disaster.

This was a friend’s cake, not mine, but I was furious for her. She did get her money back after a long drawn-out fight (can you believe there was even a question of whether she should get a refund??), but you can’t get the pictures or memories back. I’m sorry that happened to you, and hopefully the rest of the day made up for it!

sriilonghorns: I’m a weding cake baker and personal chef, so I am really interested in where in the world you found this baker? It’s very clear that design is not the only concern here, but that the baker does not have much talent. Did you see other cakes made by this decorator? They had to have been just as bad.
A good decorator doesn’t go from really great detail to really bad all of a sudden, so my guess is that this baker led you to believe she could do something that she clearly couldn’t. I’m sorry about that for you.

I hope the request from her goes well for some sort of refund. She had a picture of exactly what we wanted. Honestly i think she overbooked herself and i suffered for it. I can only hope the others for the day werent victims. I will post the final product it gwts even worse
