Our caterer just told us that our venue is/has been reposed. We haven't been able to get in touch with them yet, so I have no details at all expect for 1 article I found online which confirmed the rumor.

I don't even know where to begin....I feel crushed.

I'm so sorry about that.  I wouldn't expect that you will get your deposits back.  It seems like people in this situation never do.

Sorry to hear that! My friend went through this last year with a venue here in Houston.  They are still fighting to get their deposit money back which was 12K.  She had made some payments on top of the deposit.  I would start a place on FB or blog for other brides to join together on this because you'll need each other's support.  Good luck!

wow this is awful news!! the good thing is that you still have quite a few months before your day....i say get back on the grind to find a new reception spot (put recooping money right now from them onthe backburner)...work with your caterer, they might even be able to make a few suggestions and help you out with finding a new place!

im so sorry :( i really hope everything works out, but the good thing is that you still definitely have time on your side right now.

I'm so sorry, but you will find something you love.

We had lots of issues with things closing, moving, changing their name during our planning.  We kept telling ourselves that it was for a reason, and something better was just around the corner.

    Good luck!

I'm so sorry.  It will work out, just keep telling yourself that.  It's good that your wedding is off season and still a bit away so you'll have time to get a new place.

Did you buy wedding insurance? If so, the company should be able to get your deposit back!

Oh thank you so much for your support. Deposit issue actually isn't much of an issue.  We were renegotiating the contract anyway, so nothing had been signed.  I guess it isn't as bad as it could be.  I am just so overwehlemed thinking we are going to need to go through this whole process again - ie finding a venue.

EDIT: I am feeling a lot better about this, at least more optimistic that this time around, the search will be more productive and less overwhelming. You guys are the best!!

Oh, no, I'm so sorry. Do you mind if I ask which venue in Philly it is? Maybe I can help with some other recommendations.

Sorry to hear about your venue.  What type of venue are you looking for?  Maybe the bees could help you find another?

That's awful! At least you aren't losing any money.  I am sure that you will find a place that you love even more than this one!

Everything happens for a reason. In a few weeks when you find a new venue, you will be on her saying how happy you are!  Trust me, you will find another venue and it will be even better!

I'm so sorry :( However, at least you know this in advance and can find a great new place. Maybe it will be even better! I know of a family friend who found out three days before their bridal shower that they place they planned to have it had closed down and not let them know. They lost their deposit, and had to find a place to hold a bridal shower in two days.

I felt so bad about you loosing your place, I looked for you yesterday.  There is a place I found that a woman told me is a straight shot on the turnpike but 1 1/2 hrs away from Philly.  I also found some other possible contenders.  PM me if you want the details.  :)  Rhonda

So sorry! This happened to my MOH a two months before her wedding (thankfully she hadn't sent out invites yet, but they were printed!).  Have you had a chance to meet with your caterer - hers was able to find them another location quickly - but needless to say it added a lot of extra stress to an already stressful time!
