What time is the party? How long will it last? Is it expected to replace a meal? What are the rough ages of the children? (e.g 2 or 12?)
i spoke to a wedding planner when i was looking for my venue.. and they said 2-3 pieces a person.. but that's assuming you are providing some sort of dinner.. if not, i'd do 5-7
@october5bride: I agree with these numbers, depending on if you are doing other foods or not. If not, I think that having at least 2 dozen of each of the 6 differnt types would be sufficient, but be mindful of the kids and any allergies that you know of
@kay01- 7pm until whenever. The kids are 6months- 7yrs. I am going to note that it's cockatils and hors d'oeuvres.
Real Simple has some great party planning tips!
They are saying for 24 adults who are all bringing kids you need 144 pieces.

This isn't wedding related but I was hoping some of you might know the answer
I am having a surprise party at my house and will be doing hors d'oeuvres and drinks. For 39 adults and 6 children how many dozen would you do. I picked 6 different kinds and am not sure how many dozen of each I should serve.
