Our daughter can’t decide if she wants a full dinner or hors douvres. We haven’t printed the invites yet, but will within a couple days so she needs to decide so I can adjust the ceremony time to fit w/ whichever she chooses since we’re not set in stone with it yet. It would be a Friday and some guests will work that day so we’re not looking to start any earlier then 6pm. Is it too late in the evening to serve only hors douvres? I just don’t think people would like to have to come home after work and cook supper before going to a wedding. Thanks

Are you looking at having heavy or light hors douvres? If they are heavy hors douvres, I don’t think the time matters as much. There is a current discussion going on right now about a cocktail-style reception with hors douvres. http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/cocktail-reception-2

I agree that heavy (i.e. intended as a meal) will be ok at any time. My sister did it at her wedding and we were couldn’t eat the last trays to come out. If it’s just going to be like a vegie platter and some sandwiches then that’s different. Another idea could be a 7.30 ceremony followed by champagne and dessert buffet reception?
