I didn’t pack my bag until around 35 weeks.  I am currently 38, and I just finished packing it this past weekend.

I used the list from “Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy” as an outline, which I found pretty accurate. From what I can remember, I brought:

Mom:

1) PJs, Changes of Underwear, Sports Bras, Nursing Tanks, Comfy Fluffy Socks/Slippers (hospitals are cold!), Flip Flops (for the Shower)

2) Shower and Toiletery Supplies – Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash, Toothpaste, Toothbrush, Deoderant, Razor

3) Camera

4) Phone and Camera Chargers

5) Boppy

6) Hair Ties, Hand Lotion, Lip Balm, Nail File (these things that you wish you had but often forget that just make life better!

Baby:

1) Going Home Outfit – the hospital provided almost everything else

2) Car Seat (Only Needed This on Day We Went Home, Obviously….)

I’m 34.5 and I have just (last night) thrown 2 baby outfits into it so far (because I finally washed the clothing I have).  I’m going to finish packing it this weekend I guess and over the next week as well.  It’s not like I’m going on a weeklong trip and I live 5 minutes from the hospital, so I’m not too concerned.

I’m bringing two outfits for baby (one newborn size, one 3 month) and then I’m just going to pack my own stuff.  I have a list I need to finish I’ll probably keep at home to remember to thrown in stuff like my hairbrush, toothbrush, etc.  I’m planning on wearing the same pants/clothing out that I go in with (my leggings) aside from new socks and undies.

Here is a link to a checklist

@eecuadrado:  Just becasue I randomly put things in the bag.  I didn’t feel a rush, so I was just moving slowly.  Also, some of the stuff I was planning on bringing I was still wearing, and/or needed to wash.  The baby’s bag I was able to pack right away though.  I sitll don’t have things like makeup, hair straightner, etc. because I am still using those as well.  I think I will have plenty of time to put that in before we go to the hospital because I would really like to labor at home as long as possible, so I am not too worried.  DH just wanted me to pack as much as possible in case I wasn’t at home and he needed to grab my stuff.

I am going to start packing my bag at least at my 31st week.  I think that should give me plenty of time. You may want to pack two small bags for the hospital or birth center: one for the items you’ll need during labor, and another for items that you won’t need until after you give birth or, if you are anything like me, I am going to VS tomorrow (they are giving big bags away with the purchase or $75.00) and I am going to just pack that one bag and take to the hospital.  My hospital gives me pretty much everything for baby, so I was told not pack too much for him, but def pack a going home outfit.  Dont forget about you, so pack something that you are going to feel comfortable in.  You’ll do fine 🙂
