I wore the hospital gown in labour, didn’t want to mess my own clothes up! And I had a c-secition so afterwards they put me back in a gown. I got out of recovery at midnight so I slept in the gown for the night but the next day I changed in to a nursing tank and loose yoga pants. also had a kimono type wrap too to cover up when I had visitors. Worked out the best for me. Usually hospital rooms are hot but mine wasnt. I would prepare for both scenarios by bringing clothes you can layer.

I went into labor early and had no choice but to wear the hospital gown, and honestly that is what would have worn anyway.  I wore my hosptail gown til sometime later the next day.

@Sunshine09:  I don’t think you’d want to labor in anything but a gown. They do make pretty ones you can buy, tho that thing is likely to just get wrecked. I plan to bring a pair of pjs, nursing bras, comfy pants for after delivery.

I wore the hospital gown.  I brought a pair of PJs (drawstring pants and button-up top) to change into after delivery, thinking I’d want to be comfy but presentable for visitors, but didn’t end up wearing them.  I changed into a maxi dress to go home.

I can’t see buying anything special for labor/delivery.  It is messy and you aren’t going to care what you look like.  Save your money!

Definitely wear the hospital gown for delivery!

I bought(since I sleep in undies and a tank at home) two nightgown type shirts to wear while at the hospital.  This whole PG I have avoided pants.  When you give birth things are a bit swollen so pants are out of the question.  I have a kimono robe that I will wear as well.  Pictures with DD I was always in the hospital gown so this time I around I’m more prepared.

@Sunshine09:  Like pps said, whatever you deliver in is getting wrecked, so just wear the gown. I wore a nightie for the earlier hours of labour (I was stuck at 3cm dialated forever) and then when I got more dialated I changed into the gown.

I’d reccommend your comfiest pyjams for after the birth. I ended up foregoing a top and just wore some really baggy cotton pyjamas. A kimono robe or dressing gown is a must too. My nipples were in agony from nursing two babies and they chafed if I wore anything more fitted than a silk robe.

I was given a nightgown, so depending on how things go I’ll just wear that. The top is something that is pretty open, so I could BF easily if that works out, and it comes with a robe. I bought capris to go with it since it’s short.
