You can also find nice tote bags at Target, etc.
If you're close to the hostesses at all, get something that you know they would enjoy. If someone likes chocolate or tea, get them something along those lines. Be creative based on what you know they are into.
Im getting my 3 hostesses a cookbook and I will tie a cute cookie cutter on the tag. They all love cooking so I say go with your hostesses' interests.
Interests are great! I have done the following: my aunt threw me a shower and my Dad's friends for them I ordered a personalized address stamps (circular) for my FSILs and FMIL friends I made them a thank you bag like Mrs. Latte did. For my sisters I'll be getting them something they are interested in :)
