As the title says, we are hosting the rehearsal dinner so I need to send out invitations soon so I can get a headcount. All the examples I’ve seen online have wording about throwing a dinner in honor of the bride and groom – obviously can’t use that language if WE are in charge of the event. Anyone have any suggestions on what to say? Just a “please join us at the rehearsal dinner for bridesname & groomname”? I’d like to jazz it up a little as that seems blah.

What about “please join the bride and groom…”
or less formally “please join us, the bride and groom”

I like the PP’s advice… “Please join us…”

@ivoryowl: Thank you both – I think I hit that point in wedding planning where every little thing is being second guessed and triple guessed. I don’t know what I’d do without this site!
