I made blocks at the two hotels on our save the dates & wedding website.  I also wrote on our website “Please let either the bride or groom know if you are staying else so we can drop off a welcome packet to you”.  No one has taken us up on it yet, but it will be more work for us if they do.

we blocked 1 place (our venue) but it seems like we will be needing to block another hotel close by (10-15 minutes away from the venue) –

our venue had 20 rooms available, to date I think we take up 15 rooms. (the 5 rooms left over are 250-350 a night. I doubt anyone would want to book those rooms or I dont want them to feel that they have to book a room that expensive).

I only blocked rooms at one hotel. I’m getting a shuttle from the hotel to the venue and only blocking rooms at one hotel made the logistics a lot easier. Plus, I have one list from the hotel so I know how many welcome bags to make and drop off at the front counter.

I know we have people staying at other hotels and I’ve told them if they want to use the shuttle they can meet at the blocked hotel.

I blocked ten rooms at one hotel near the airport (about 15-20 minutes from our venue, out in the sticks).

I’m glad I saw this post because it reminded me to email the block coordinator at the hotel! Our guests have less than a week left to make reservations and I want to see how many rooms have been reserved. I need to start getting welcome bags planned out.

We only used one hotel for our room block and it’s been the best option for us. We’re also getting a shuttle for transportation and it’d be too hard to coordinate between multiple hotels, especially since they’re fairly spread out across the area.

I don’t know if this helps you or not – sorry! ;x

4.  We aren’t doing out of town bags for people staying outside of those hotels, unless we know a big group are staying at 1 of the other hotels in town.

Blah. Heard back from the hotel coordinator, and no one has booked any rooms yet!

I guess maybe I won’t be making out of town bags!
