We're having our reception at a hotel.  Because of that, we were pretty much forced to have our hotel block at the same hotel.  Wouldn't really make sense otherwise.  This particular hotel has an attrition of 50%, meaning our guests have to book 50% of our blocked rooms or else we have to pay for them.  The wedding is on Columbus Day weekend in New England and we had a lot of family who said they were staying over, so we booked a LOT of rooms.  Right now there is 3 weeks left until the block "expires" and we still need at least 3 people to book rooms or else we will have to pay.

This is a huge source of stress for me.  I included the hotel info in the invitaiton and I've already sent out one "friendly reminder" email to my family, telling them to please book soon.  Only one person actually did book.  I know that some of these people plan on staying over...many of them are in the bridal party.  Is there any way to give them another nudge?  Especially for the bridal party members?

FI and I are able to book rooms for people (guaranteed under the master account), so that's an option too, but I feel like that is sneaky.

I think that you should check with the bridal party about where they are staying, it isn't overreaching to check with them about their plans.

I've just been letting people know..."hey you only have another week to book a room, and they are going fast, so make sure you get it taken care of."  There is no way they can find out how many rooms you really have reserved (unless you told them), so giving people notification that they are 'almost gone' has been good to motivate them to actually book it.

@Lynz1022: GENIUS!  I will try this.  Hopefully it will work :)
