Try K-Town...a few blocks from Penn Station. My mom works for the state and stays there a lot, and I know they have a limit on the cost of the rooms they can book.
I think she's stayed at the LaQuinta, and either Red Roof or Ramada (it's right across the street from the Pinkberry)
The Roosevelt Hotel and the Radisson Lexington Hotel are near to Grand Central and both gave great (relative for NYC) rates. The Roosevelt is much nicer, but about $20 more per room, and the Radisson is smaller but $149/$159 per room which is a steal! While things may have changed in the last few months, I was also looking for hotels near Grand Central and I did a ton of research and these were the best that I found (neither requires a deposit or minimum room fill either, which is nice).
Thanks!
Red Roof looks reasonable and so does the Radisson.
I'm assuming even at a "group" rate most hotels won't discount more than ~$30 or so. So if their online rate through their site is hitting $200 I'm not even bothering to inquire. :)
if you do the laquinta, they do have a very nice roof bar/deck with a great view of the empire state building...
We blocked the Courtyard Marriott Midtown east for 139$ per night. Located on third ave.
I just called marriott for various rates for wedding guests and this was one of the lowest prices. it was a great location too, as our wedding was in midtown. i think their regular fare is $200+. i know, several friends mentioned how i got this deal .
we also did our reception at the roosevelt hotel ballroom and although it is a beautiful historic hotel, i believe their standard rooms are quite small and nothing special. we didn't get to see them bc we stayed in their suites, but a friend commented on it. they gave us a rate of 169$ for wedding guest blocks.
both hotels get filled up pretty quickly though and many of our guests missed their hotel block date deadline...then the price rises significantly. there are so many hotels in midtown area though that prices are reasonable.
I am blocking rooms at St. Giles on 39th btw Park and Lex. Its a really cute hotel and the rooms are pretty spacious! $189 a night

For those getting married in NYC, where are you blocking off hotels?
I'm looking to set aside blocks in Manhattan and Long Island.
Thus far I've inquired about the Chelsea Savoy Hotel in Manhattan and 3 chain ones near my venue.
I hope to stay around $150nt...preferably near Penn or Grand Central Station (LIRR) but not necessary.
Thanks!
