@momme:  The subway is perfect for transportation! Guests can take the 2 or 3 train to Eastern Parkway/Brooklyn Museum, which is right at the entrance to the Botanic Garden. My wedding’s at the Palm House next year, so we haven’t booked hotel blocks yet, but we’re looking into room blocks at the Brooklyn Bridge Mariott, the Nu Hotel on Atlantic Avenue, the Aloft on Duffield Street and the Holiday Inn Express on Butler Street. The Aloft is a block away from the 2/3 train at Hoyt, which would make it easy for guests to hop on the subway home from our reception.

@momme:  No, we’re having a church ceremony first and our guests will be arriving under their own steam. We’re considering hiring a trolley to get our guests from the church to the BBG, but it’s a pretty short walk between the two, so we’ll probably just leave folks to their own devices for that as well.

I’m also looking for hotels for a room block – undecided whether to put my guests in Manhattan or Brooklyn… I was thinking Brooklyn to save on transport costs (was going to do a shuttle of some sort to the venue) but a lot of my relatives would probably like to spend some time doing touristy things in Manahattan.

I just saw a Groupon for this hotel:www.pointeplazahotel.com/

Does anyone know anything about it? I guess best plan is to spend a day visiting hotels in the area soon!

Neither for a wedding nor BBG, but we have some guests coming in for a birthday party near Prospect Park next month and after a LOT of due diligence we recommended they stay at either the Hotel Le Bleu or the Marriott. From what I’ve heard, the customer service at HLB  has been great so far. (No one has booked at the Marriott.)
