hotel reception site ideas

posted 6 months ago in Connecticut

My fiance and I are trying to get married in my hometown in northwest CT and would have alot of out of town guests who would most likely stay over because of our evening reception.  We would love to find an affordable hotel reception option within 30-45 minutes of the Litchfield area...but can't seem to find anything within our budget.  Anyone have any budget friendly hotel ideas in the vacinity of Litchfield and Waterbury??

Its a little out of the way, but we are having our reception at the Farmington Club (Farmington) and then having our out-of-town guests stay at the Farmington Inn. Its less than 2 miles from the reception. The Farmington Inn gave a us a pretty good deal on 20+ rooms since most of the rooms were being booked for 2 nights. We got last years rates, but I would think they would be around $130 a night this year. The Inn is very cute and charming (with breakfast included). Just an idea. Hope you find what you are looking for!

It's probably farther south than you want to go, but have you considered the Ethan Allen Hotel in Danbury?  We're having our room block there, so I'm not sure how pricey a reception would be, but it's a nice hotel that's not too outrageously priced.  For a night-before welcome reception they quoted us at $35/pp for light buffet/hot hors d'oeuvres.

I've never been inside of it, but there's a Crowne Plaza in Southbury (just off 84, exit 16).  Unfortunately I don't know anything about their pricing, but it's convenient to the highway, or people could take the long but scenic route up through Woodbury to Litchfield...

Maybe this seems too obvious, but I have been to two wedding receptions at the Litchfield Inn. The pictures came out really great with the long grassy area and white pillared inn. It was really affordable... we are talking like $65 a person. Their website is terrible, but the place actually is really nice. It has a mansion-like feel for the cocktail hour.

My fiance and I are having ours at the Heritage Hotel in Southbury. It isn't much to look at on the outside, but the inside is really nice. There are cute patios for photos. The people that work there are also really willing to customize the packages to meet your needs. Our package is roughly $110 a head (tax included).

Yeah...another Litchfield County Bride.

I am planning a semi-destination wedding in the same area (my family is in the area but most of my friends and all of his guests are from out of state) but a bit farthure north in Canaan.  We will most likely use the Blackberry River Inn in Norfolk which is also a bed and breakfast which is a great plus.  This may be a bit far for you so I would check out places in Torrington, which is closer and has a few chain hotels like the Days Inn and Quality Inn (Not fancy but not bad).

Danbury isn't far either and there is a Sheraton, Days Inn and a few others.  The Litchfield Inn is a bit pricey but you might try the Yankee Peddler Inn (peddlerinn.com)  in Torrington or the Boulders in New Preston.

Another great place is the Interlaken Inn in Lakeville but that may be a bit far off for you.

Good Luck, I hope I was of help.

Another northwest corner Litchfield countybride here.  :-)

Recently engaged and just found our place, Bucksteep Manor in the berkshires...rustic, but has so much of what we want.  And, it is much more affordable that some places out there.
