We were only in London for a few days, but we stayed at the London Bridge Hotel, which we loved, especially for the money (I think we paid around $130ish). The rooms are a bit small, but I think it’s kinda nice to have that cozy feel on your honeymoon and we loved the contemporary style. The tube is just at the end of the block. As far as nightlife, I don’t know – we usually just came home and crashed after being out all day.

If you want really cheap you can stay at Passfield Hall at the London School of Economics.  My husband and I stayed there two summers ago (we actually got engaged in England on that trip!)

It’s in a good location and is close to several tube stops.

I’ve also stayed at the Montana Hotel in Kensington.  Kensington is a lovely neighborhood.  It’s been a few years since I’ve stayed at the Montana so I’m not sure what it is like now.  It used to be pretty decently priced and a good enough place to stay.  Sort of like a Holiday Inn.  Didn’t really matter that much to me though since I wasn’t in my room except to sleep anyway.  This hotel is in an excellent location – right across the street from the Gloucester Road Tube stop – which is on the Circle, District, and Piccadilly lines.

Just be prepared that all hotels in London are going to cost a lot more than the US and are also going to have a lot smaller rooms.

Oh and as far as nightlife, it’s all over London.  If it’s not right next to your hotel you will be able to take a short tube ride to get to it.  But there’s at least a pub in every neighborhood.
