im putting my FH in charge of this item. feel like he will be able to negotiate better (since i totally feel like vendors hear the word “wedding” and assume they are dealing with a dithering idiot). he’s a pretty competent guy, so i feel good about it, but when it comes to guys and wedding planning, all bets are off!
has anyone else outsourced this one to the man? success? failure?

Yup, my mister was in charge of this, too. He’s also handling our honeymoon, and arranged the limo — among other things!

Mr. D didn’t do it, although he helped organize all the info on the site. I think it is a very doable job and negotiating skills are helpful

Oh this is such a good idea. I’m kind of dreading calling hotels and blocking rooms. I don’t know why, exactly. It just seems like it’s one of those things that you HAVE to do but is not a “fun” part of planning.
As for outsourcing things to the man…he planned our honeymoon!! Very successfully, I might add. He’s keeping it a surprise, but I know he put in hours of research to find the perfect place for us. Thank god he did it, I’m not sure I have the patience do plan that AND a wedding!

My guy handled the limo, and scored us an awesome ride, i’m so proud of him.. You’ll be fine, just leave it in his hands. You have to trust him.

My fiance did this & it worked out well. If you’re worried, you could write him a list of points to hit when he calls (target price per night, approx. number of rooms, etc).

My fiance did this as well! In fact, I’m having him do a lot of the “calling around” type stuff. Not only do I hate doing that kind of stuff (and talking on the phone in general) but he has his own office and I sit in a cube, so it’s a little easier. Plus, if your guy is anything like mine, he’ll love doing Excel spreadsheets and such to keep track of everything ;o)

My FH did the hotel room blocks. He did really well.
